Hey, Evolution Gaming! Won’t you take me to Funky Time?
Spoiler alert: they will.
The blue chip design firm has finally dropped the long-awaited sequel to their 2020 galactic blockbuster hit Crazy Time. And players want to know: how does this offering measure up in the massive shadow of its predecessor?
Our verdict?
This is a Live Dealer Wheel offering that is not to be missed!
First of all, there’s the fabulous design, which embraces the 1970s Disco Era in all its glory. The colors are bright, the dealers are glamorous, and the overall visual presentation shows the design team’s mastery of spectacle. This is a huge part of the gaming experience in a gameshow-style release like this one. You practically expect a young, astonishingly handsome John Travolta to jump out and start dancing in his white, bell-bottom suit!
Substance, though, is far more important than style (in our opinion, anyway). And that’s where this game really shines.
The main wheel offers no fewer than 17 betting options; the betting range starts at just $0.10 and goes all the way up to $10,000; and, thanks to stackable win multipliers, the max win can reach a very handsome 10,000x – that number will turn plenty of heads.
There are also 4 separate bonus features:
- Bar Bonus appears in six Wheel segments. In it, a robotic bartender pours cocktails – players choose, and hope to reveal a serious payout. Additionally, a one-reel slot appears on the robot’s face, which stacks a second multiplier onto the first.
- Stayin’ Alive appears on the Wheel only twice, and launches a richly complicated mini-game that strongly resembles Bingo. Players select a color, than watch as a ball-drawing machine determines which colors advance up the ladder of multipliers. This feature ends either when your color has lost three “lives,” or when the max win of 10,000x is achieved.
- Disco appears in three Wheel segments, and seems to be the beating heart of the whole title. Mr. Funky dances on a virtual dance floor divided into 37 sections – as he dances, more and more stackable multipliers are awarded! Play continues until all 37 sections are unlocked, or until Mr. Funky falls off the edge of the dance floor.
- VIP Disco shows up only once on the Wheel, and is the same as Disco… but with bigger rewards.
Best of all, RTP tops out at a very strong 95.99%. That number may not be quite as player-friendly as it is in table games like Blackjack (when played with solid strategy, that is), but it compares favorably with most slots and wheel games, and completely blows offerings like Keno out of the water.
With this title, Evolution once again proves why it’s so beloved by Canadian gamblers. Every new release from this designer should be treated as a noteworthy event, as this offering proves!
