American poker pro and 4-bracelet winner Shaun Deeb led the 37 survivors who made it to the money bubble in the biggest WSOP Europe mixed event ever recorded, the €1,650 Mixed PLO/NLHE. The event, currently taking place at King’s Casino in Rozvadov, drew in a record field of 241 entries and collected at an attractive prize pool of more than €340,000.
Deeb has a chance of taking home the first-place prize of €86,956 if he manages to dominate over his tough competition. Some of the best mixed-game experts in the history of the World Series of Poker have remained in the field, however, and they would not go without a fight. Among them, we can see multiple bracelet-winners Chris Ferguson, Max Pescatori, and Jeff Lisandro. Day 2 Chip Leader Laszlo Bujtas (Hungary) is also eying the title and bracelet, while Shaun Deeb is looking to secure his third gold bracelet for the year.
The €1,650 Mixed PLO/NLHE kicked off on Sunday, October 21, as the sixth and final event of the 2018 World Series of Poker Europe. The festival is hosted by the popular King’s Casino in Rozvadov, the Czech Republic. The small town near the border with Germany is typically attracting German players but this past week, it became a truly international gathering for some of the best poker players from all around the world.
The sixth event in the schedule had an entry fee of €1,650 and the total of 241 registrations contributed to a fantastic prize pool of €343,425. Only 37 players will cash in this tournament, getting home a minimum of €2,350, while the winner will claim a prize of €86,956, along with a WSOP gold bracelet.
Deeb Beats Bujtas in the Chip Lead
After a series of eliminations, only 42 players qualified for Day 2 of the 2018 WSOPE €1,650 Mixed PLO/NLHE. Hungarian Laszlo Bujtas bagged the most chips (388,500), followed by Shaun Deeb (361,000), Zoltan Szabo (309,000), Roland Israelashvili (303,000). Deeb is the WSOP Player of the Year leader and with the current tournament, he might manage to cement his position on the leaderboard.
Early action on Day 2 saw several eliminations and among them were Jeff Lisandro, Pasquale Vinci, and Zhong Chen. Once the money bubble was reached, Deeb led the surviving 37 entries with a stack of 585,000, followed by Julien Sitbon (350,000), and Roland Israelashvili (315,000). The short stacks now include Romain Lewis, Abdelhakim Zoufri, Siarhei Chudapal, Roman Cieslik, Christopher Back, Jaroslav Peter, and Stephan Klam.
If Shaun Deeb reaches the first place, this would be the 14th WSOP final table for him, as well as the 5th bracelet in his career. He also took part in the second and the third event of the 2018 WSOPE in Rozvadov, finishing 11th (€4,640) and 38th (€1,224), respectively. The 32-year-old player from Troy, New York, also won two of the events during 49th World Series of Poker 2018 in Las Vegas. Currently, his total earnings from live poker tournaments are a little over $6 million, while his best cash was in June when he took home $1,402,683 for his first place at the 49th WSOP $25K PLO High Roller in Las Vegas.
