The first-ever WSOP-C Playground Main Event has been brought to an end with Danny Freitas being crowned as the champion.
The player scooped a first-place prize of $294,000 and is to bring home the Main Event’s trophy after beating the largest-ever field in the history of World Series of Poker Circuit Main Events. The Main Event of the 2018 WSOP-C Playground Series started on August 28th and offered four starting flights, followed by three more game days. At the time when registration and re-entry closed on Day 2 of the Main Event, there were a total of 2,401 entries, with more than 850 players still in the event.
The Canadian player managed to boost his total live winnings to almost $300,000 after generating the best live cash in his career so far. Before that, his largest live cash was the $16,899 prize pool portion he received for his sixth position in the WSOP-C Playground Colossus event.

WSOP-C Playground Main Event Final Day and Heads-Up Play
Day 4, which was the last day of the WSOP-C Playground Main Event, saw only 21 players return to action. After the first phase of the Main Event’s final day play, 16 players remained, and then another seating redraw set for the final table.
Players got eliminated one by one, including Chen Turjeman, who entered Day 4 of the event as a chip leader, until the epic three-way battle. The last three players remaining in the Main Event have played for quite a while, with the game being very dynamic. Two players with large stacks – Danny Freitas and Yuan Li – remained around the table, as well as, quite surprisingly, Maxime Boulais, who started the Final Day of the Main Event towards the bottom line of the field.
At the time when there were only two remaining players in action, the two of them decided to discuss a deal which was relatively easy to reach. The prize was divided into three portions, with Freitas receiving a total of $244,930 and Boulais getting a $210,070 portion, respectively. A portion of $50,000 was left along with the Championship Ring to play for.
The heads-up play between Danny Freitas and Maxime Boulais was never destined to be a long affair, so Freitas emerged as the winner of the WSOP-C Playground Main Event. His victory marked a fantastic week for Freitas, as he managed to reach the final table of the first event in the series, the Colossus, in which he ranked on the 6th position and left prematurely having had the chip lead for most of the time.
With Danny Freitas occupying the first place in the ranking, Maxime Boulais remained on the runner-up position, getting a total of $210,070 for his efforts, as a result of a two-way deal at the beginning of the heads-up play. Yuan Li took the third place, winning a prize pool portion amounting to $137,970.
