The 2018 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia has been brought to an end, with the Main Event finally getting its crowned champion after Anatoly Filatov took down the RUB318,000 Main Event to take home the lion’s share of the prize pool.
The final day of the Main Event saw only 11 players out of 916 return to Sochi Casino and Resort to determine the tournament’s champion. Eventually, the Russian poker pro Anatoly Filatov, who is also a partypoker ambassador, lifted the trophy, also taking home a monetary prize of RUB60 million (about US$870,000).
The victory boosted the 30-year old Russian’s total live winnings to $3,048,212, but his best live cash of $944,231 remained unbeaten.
Filatov joined the action on Day 1B. By the end of the second day of the Main Event, he managed to climb among the larger stacks in the tournament. After that, things got even better for Filatov, as he was fifth in chips at the time when the 8-handed final table of the event was formed, and eventually managed to face his fellow Russian Gor Kazaryan in a heads-up battle for the first-place prize and the Main Event’s trophy.
Final Day and Top 8 Main Event Ranking
As mentioned above, only eleven players returned to Sochi Casino and Resort on the Main Event’s final day. It only took them about half an hour to determine the unofficial final table of the last nine players who were to try to take down the event.
At the time when the three-handed play kicked off, it was Andrey Malyshev who held the largest chip stack, but the situation changed dramatically after one crucial hand from which Malyshev never managed to recover and eventually fell in the third position. The heads-up play between Filatov and Kazaryan lasted for a little less than an hour and a half, with both of them being cautious and the chip lead switching positions several times. Eventually, it was Filatov who took down the event, getting the largest monetary portion and the 2018 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia Main Event’s trophy.
Seven Russian players and one player from Belarus occupied the top 8 places of the 2018 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia Main Event ranking. There was one Malaysian player at the time when the unofficial final table was set, but he was unlucky to remain out of the top 8.
With Anatoly Filatov emerging victorious with the trophy and a massive RUB60-million prize (about US$870,000), Gor Kzaryan remained on the runner-up position, taking home a cash portion of RUB39 million (a little over $576,000). The third position in the ranking was taken by Andrey Malyshev, who got a total of RUB26.730 million (approximately $395,000) for his efforts.
The only Belarusian player among the top eight ones was Viktor Khodorenko, who got fourth. He was followed by Alexey Melnikov on the fifth position. Gleb Tremzin remained sixth, while Mikhail Galitskiy and Konstantin Uspenskii got on the seventh and eighth places, respectively.
