Alex Foxen emerged victorious from the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) US$5,000 Venetian Main Event after defeating his girlfriend Kristen Bicknell in heads-up play. The couple has already made the claim to be the most successful couple in live poker tournaments in March, at the time when won consecutive High Roller events in Macau. Now, their first and, respectively, second position in the MSPT Venetian Main Eventās ranking proved they are really as good as they claimed to be.
Last night, Alex Fosen managed to outlast a players field of 178 competitors who took part in the Mid-States Poker Tourās $5,000 Main Event, taking home a monetary prize pool portion of $239,000. His girlfriend, the Canadian poker player Kristen Bicknell occupied the runner-up position, winning a total of $200,000. The victory helped Fosen boost his total live winnings to $4,317,022, although he did not manage to get even close to his careerās biggest live cash so far.
This is not the first time when a couple has reached the heads-up play together. Back in 2016, Ivan Luca and Maria Lambropoulos managed to do the same.
Third Day and Final Table Ranking
As managed above, the event attracted a total of 178 players who had their eyes on the big prize, but it was the Foxen-Bicknell couple who reached not only the final table but also faced each other heads-up.
At the time when the final table was formed, it was Alex Foxen who had the chip lead, with 984,000 in chips, while Kristen Bicknell was not far behind. Kahle Burns was second, with a stack of 769,000 in chips, while Blake Whittington was third with 760,000, followed by Bicknell with 729,000.
The players got eliminated from the final table one by one. At the time, when Kahle Burns was sent home with a prize pool chunk amounting to $120,000, Alex Foxen and Kristen Bicknell were the last two players standing. The two of them stopped the clock to make a two-day deal, reaching an agreement to get a prize of $200,000 each, with the remaining amount of $39,000 to be left for the winner. Soon after the deal was made, Bicknell was eliminated by her boyfriend, with Foxen emerging as the big champion of the MSPT $5,000 Venetian Main Event.

The fourth position in the ranking was occupied by Phong āTurboā Nguyen, followed by Blake Whittington. Joey Weissman got sixth, while Pavel Plesuv managed to rank on the seventh position. The eighth and ninth place were occupied by Conor Beresford and Jake Schindler, respectively.
Only the first eighteen players got paid, with the Sam Soverel, Elio Fox and Seth Davies, respectively on the 18th, 17th and 16th position of the ranking all getting a $14,000 portion.
