With WSOP tournaments becoming more popular every year, the world’s most successful live poker series return at King’s Casino Rozvadov this year. On Monday, organizers announced the schedule for World Series of Poker Europe 2018, revealing that the event now turns into an annual festival after being held every two years.
This year’s edition of WSOP Europe starts October 9 and offers players 10 official WSOP gold bracelet events, as well as a €5 million GTD Main Event. According to the series’ Monday release, King’s Casino in the small Czech town of Rozvadov will become a permanent home for WSOP Europe, following last year’s edition, which was a complete success. In 2017, the event attracted more than 7,600 entries and paid out over €25 million in prize money.
The European tour of the series launched in 2007, but since 2013, it has been organized every two years. Now, starting at King’s Casino Rozvadov in October, WSOP Europe becomes an annual event once again. It will run for almost a month, beginning with the eight starting flights of the €550 Colossus NLH event which promises a guarantee of €1 million. In fact, the festival offers €13 million in guarantees on bracelet events only. Just like in most large poker festivals, there will be something for everyone – both single and multiple-day events, as well as classic No-limit Hold’em, Pot-limit Omaha, mixed games, high rollers and super high rollers, Turbo Bounty Hunter events, and more.
The tour ends officially November 2, culminating with the Final Day of the €10,350 Main Event where the guaranteed prize pool is €5 million. More tourneys are scheduled until Monday, November 5, however, as well as a large number of cash games and local tournaments.
Europe’s Largest Poker Festival
Promising €13 million in guarantees for the 10 bracelet events, WSOP Europe 2018 in King’s Casino Rozvadov is likely to become the largest live poker festival on the continent this year. Thousands of poker pros and amateurs are expected at the picturesque town of Rozvadov which sits on the border between Germany and the Czech Republic. The venue has already been a host to some of the most prestigious poker tournaments, including last year’s WSOP Europe which offered more than €25 million in prizes.
This year, the festival starts with a small €160 buy-in noon event on October 9, but the real action kicks off a few hours later with the €550 WSOP Europe 2018 Colossus event. It comes with a prize pool of at least €1 million and is the first of the 10 gold bracelet events. There will be also daily NLH tournaments with entry fees of €110, as well as different events with buy-ins from €160 to more than €2,000. One of the highlights in the schedule is, of course, the €5 million GTD Main Event where entry costs €10,350. It kicks off October 27 with two starting flights and players who are eliminated in the first one can re-enter in the second Day 1 on Sunday, October 28.
Everyone will also pay attention to the WSOP Europe Super Highroller, which starts Friday, October 26 and runs through Sunday, October 28. The ultra exclusive event has an entry fee of €100,000 (€95,000+€5,000) but it would be worth it since the guaranteed prize pool is €5 million.
