Online poker players have plenty of opportunities to win big with several large events taking place this week. PokerStars 2018 SCOOP and partypoker POWERFEST kicked off Sunday and today, 888poker launches the second edition of its XL Inferno series, which would award more than $2.5 million throughout 34 events. The championship runs through May 20 and its single-day Main Event boasts a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million.
The XL Inferno series is back on the 888poker platform offering various tournaments for everyone with buy-ins from $5 to $2,600. Entries for the accessible Mini and Micro events cost between $5 and $44, while tourneys in the middle tier come with buy-ins from $55 to $150. The high-stakes events feature entry fees from $160 to $1,050, with the exception of the High Roller on May 15, which has a buy-in of $2,600. That is quite reasonable considering it has a prize pool of at least $200,000. Although this online championship certainly does not offer the highest prizes, it is expected to attract a large number of poker enthusiasts and professionals with its affordable fees.
The festival kicks off with the $100,000 GTD Opening Event where the buy-in is $109 and for those who feel the fee is just too steep, the $20,000 Mini Opening Event which costs only $12 to enter. The $25,000 Late Opening Event a couple of hours later comes with a $55 entry fee. Along with the $2,600 Buy-in High Roller, players who prefer high-stakes games can also take part in the $215 Mini High Roller and the $160 Late High Roller promising guaranteed prize pools of $100,000 and $30,000, respectively.
The Main Event will open on Sunday, May 20, and will last a day unless the entry field exceeds the expected number of registrations. With a buy-in of only $1,050, the tournament is a very tempting as it has a prize pool of at least $1 million. It pushes the overall amount of prizes for the festival to over $2.8 million.
888poker Offers Lots of Ways to Win at XL Inferno
Those who choose to take part in the poker action during the XL Inferno championships will have lots of ways to win big even without taking the Main Event title. Players who win 2 tournaments will receive an additional $1,000, those who win 3 tournaments will be rewarded $10,000, while those who manage to defeat the competition and take 4 titles will bank a bonus of $100,000. The festival also promises $1 million in an additional payment to anyone who wins 5 tournaments during the XL Inferno series.
Another special offer gives poker players $1,050 tournament tickets if they reach the final table in 3 or more events. If they make it to the money in at least 8 events, they get a $215 tournament ticket. The poker festival does not have a leaderboard and participants do not collect points as it is in many other online championships. Instead, 888poker has introduced its XL Inferno Champion of Champions Event. The exclusive tickets to this special event will be given to the winners of all 34 tourneys and the top three players in it will get packages to the WSOP Las Vegas 2018, which kicks off May 29.
