This week, Grey Eagle Resort & Casino in the Tsuut’ina Nation, Alberta, announced that it will be making sound improvements to its live entertainment venue. The establishment said it will install an L-Acoustics K2/ K3i sound system at its Grey Eagle Event Centre. For the upgrades, the casino partnered with FM Systems which will do the job over six days.
The venue kicked off operations in 2014, and top offering premium gambling, it has gained a reputation as a leading mid-sized event centre in Calgary. It boasts a capacity of 3,000 general admissions and 2,511 in a theatre setting. Over the years, it has hosted some world-class names, such as Burton Cummings, Ice Cube, Lainey Wilson, The Offspring and more.
Improving Sound Capabilities
Sheldon Lachambre, Director of Entertainment at the casino explained that by the fall of 2023, the venue was running up to 150 events annually and it was pushing the limits of the old sound system. He said the previous system had started to give technical issues and it was time for an upgrade, which is why the establishment selected FM Systems to install the new L-Acoustics.
FM Systems General Manager Cody Volk commented that the L-Acoustics design was a natural fit for the venue for two big reasons. The first one is that many A-class artists and engineers prefer and is the most requested PA system from acts at the venue. Meanwhile, the second one is that its performance is one of a kind and the K2/K3i design provides incredible fidelity and punch.
Mr. Lachambre further noted that the level of acts the casino is attracting and the sound quality inside the venue is second to none in the city. He elaborated that the entertainment centre has changed the business in a big way and many of the promoters, Live Nation, MRG Live and F7 Entertainment Group, know that the establishment is a hotspot in the city.
Lastly, he shared that with the new state-of-the-art L-Acoustics system, artists and promoters will be confident that they are going to have the highest quality production and experience in Calgary. This is something the casino is proud of. Once installation is complete, the property invites media and the public to experience the improved audio design during upcoming events.
Making Significant Upgrades in 2019
Rewinding to 2019, Grey Eagle Resort & Casino also made some substantial improvements to its gambling floor, as a way of keeping players interested and attracting some new ones.
