Suffering a Hefty Fine
However, just recently, PointsBet Canada suffered a setback in Ontarioās iGaming sector for private operators as it was imposed a hefty fine by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. The gaming watchdog penalized the operator for allegedly failing to comply with the responsible gambling provisions of the Registrarās Standards for Internet Gaming.
According to AGCO, the sportsbook failed to appropriately intervene and provide help to one of its players in the province who experienced gambling issues and had lost over CA$500,0000 in lees than three months. The user was marked as potentially high-risk by the operator on several occasions, due to recording substantial losses and making repeated withdrawal cancellations.
