Ben Tollerene took down the $25,000 partypoker High Roller event, adding another triumph to his career profile in the Hendon Mob. The US-based player managed to defeat a stacked field of 127 poker hopefuls to grab the lion’s share from the guaranteed prize pool of $3,175,000. Tollerene was crowned champion on Wednesday evening after finishing off his heads-up opponent Viktor Blom.
The high roller event kicked off on Tuesday this week and it was played as part of the online Powerfest series. partypoker is the sponsor of the event, announcing a total guaranteed prize pool of $35 million. Needless to say, High Roller poker tournaments are among the most thrilling events, as these offer sky-high stakes and cash prizes. The Powerfest #254: Championship Event: $3M Gtd Super High Roller is a proof of this, as the event drew the attention of 127 enthusiasts, who did not mind to pay a buy-in of $25,000.
Day 1 of the event continued for almost 8 hours, whittling the field to only 16 survivors, who were confidently straddling to Day 2. At that moment, Sam ‘DeanMalenko’ Greenwood had the chip lead, closely followed by the notable poker heavyweight Fedor Holz in 3rd place. The eventual winner was limping behind in 6th place. The number of players was halved from 16 to only 8 to give a starting shot to the official final table. Jason Koon was the player, who was busted in 9th place, only at a stone’s throw away from the final table.
Tollerene Runs the Race to win the First Prize
By the time the official final table play began, Greenwood was still clinging to the leading position, while Tollerene was in 5th place. Fedor Holz was the next player to exit the game, being eliminated in 7th place with a sturdy consolation prize of $185,420. Shortly after Holz’s departure, the field was furthered narrowed to only 3 players. The three-handed game saw the elimination of “shlongoperator” in 3rd place, who fell victim to Tollerene’s stronger hand.
Tollerene managed to turn the things to his advantage due to his triumph against “shlongoperator”. Consequently, he started out the heads-up duel with a slight chip advantage over his opponent Viktor Blom. From that moment on, the eventual winner did not look back, steaming ahead to the first place. After a bit more than one level of the game, Tollerene collected 5 times bigger stack of chips than Blom. Nevertheless, Blom did not give up without a fight, as the player managed to win a big pot and melt his opponent’s chip advantage. Despite all his efforts, Blom could not manage to outmaneuver Tollerene, who had the victory in his bag after tabling a full house, eights over nines. Blom, on the other hand, did not leave the poker battle empty-handed, as he pocketed $529,272 for his runner-up finish.
