This month, Lotto Max’s jackpot reached its maximum of CA$70 million again, and the massive jackpot was quickly claimed by two ticket holders in Canada. According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the first winner is located in Windsor, Ontario. The Crown corporation advised everyone from the region to double-check their tickets.
Lotto Max is a popular choice among Canadian lottery players and over the years it has minted plenty of lottery millionaires across the country. It is drawn twice per week, on Tuesday and Friday. Meanwhile, its jackpot can hit the stunning CA$70,000,000, and once the jackpot reached CA$50 million it also has several Maxmillion prizes.
First Winner is in Windsor
Shortly after the June 6, 2023 draw of Lotto Max, OLG issued a statement that a ticket holder from Ontario has won half of the CA$70 million windfall. The winning ticket has been purchased in Windsor. OLG’s Tony Bitonti said it was important for the ticket holder to validate the ticket with a lottery retailer who will put it through the lottery terminal.
Mr. Bitonti noted that the Crown knows where the winning ticket was sold and at what time was bought as well as some other details which are used for verification. But still, the organization does not know the name of the winner. That is why it is important for the lucky holder to validate it, so they can begin the process of claiming the mega prize worth CA$35 million.
Meanwhile, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation has reported that the owner of the other half of the CA$70 million winning in Lotto Max belonged to one of its players. This time the lucky winner resides in Victoria. The winning combination for the draw was 04, 07, 13, 16, 31, 32, 36 and the bonus number was 26. Players are advised to check their tickets from the June 6 draw.
However, there were several other ticket holders who scored some hefty winnings from the last draw of the nationwide game. First off, a resident of Kitimat local matched six numbers from the draw to win CA$564k. Meanwhile, a Richmond player will share a Maxmillion prize with a ticket holder from Quebec. Each of them will take home a cool CA$500,000.
Ticket Worth CA$70M Will Expire Soon
Just recently, OLG also issued a reminder that a CA$70,000,000 win from Lotto Max hit last year is yet to be claimed. Players have 52 weeks to obtain a prize from the date of the draw, and this one is set to expire on June 28, 2023. OLG said the ticket was purchased in Scarborough but its winner is yet to emerge and claim it.
Shortly after the Crown’s statement, Mr. Bitonti revealed OLG received hundreds of calls regarding the major windfall. He explained that among the 760 calls about the ticket, some of those calls included general inquiries about the ticket and individuals who claimed to be the owners of the ticket, but say they have lost it and were unable to find it.
