As the calendar 2022 is coming to a close, Ontario-based online sport betting brand Rivalry has released its end-of-year industry report which recaps its financial performance and highlights. The report finds that the eSports-focused firm has generated most of its handle via three competitive games. However, there has also been an increase in traditional sports betting on its platform.
Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, the company is among the leading sports betting and media company that provides legal online wagering on eSports, regular sports, and digital casino titles. Currently, the brand operates in more than 20 jurisdictions arount the globe. Some of its products include Rushlane, from its Massively Multiplayer Online Gambling Games vertical.
Recapping 2022
In its reports, the company discloses that the eSports wagering volume on its platform is mainly compiled by three games: League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Dota 2. The three competitive games contributed to 90% of the eSports handle in 2022. In addition to that, another popular title saw an increase in interest, Valorant, which saw a 264% rise in betting volume.
The company offers esports betting and media content for the next generation of bettors, as in October the company reported that its target demographic is in the 18 to 30-year-old range. Back then the company also informed that 82% of active users fall into this age category and that 90% of its sportsbook betting volume for Q3 of 2022 was compiled by eSports wagers.
Despite eSports being one of its key aspects, the report also finds that over 50% of the platform’s users are also active bettors on traditional professional sports. Basketball has generated the largest wagering volume out of real-life sports, followed by soccer. Then there is the NFL and CFL in third, followed by the MLB and NHL.
Co-Founder and CEO of the Ontario firm, Steven Salz, commented that 2022 has been quite successful for the company. He reveals that the brand averaged 29% month-over-month growth from January to October, while the eSports betting customers have also increased. He also added that traditional sports betting on its platform has expanded into a major category since adding it a while back.
Furthermore, Mr. Salz, commented that the significant growth is a testament to the company’s market leadership in next-generation sports betting and casino. He claimed that its customer base displays the company’s ability to engage a highly south-after audience of Gen Z and Millennials across global markets, and additionally bolsters its innovative player acquisition and brand strategy.

Another major milestone for the eSports betting platform in 2022 is the launch of its first-ever casino title to its offerings.
