This week, leading lottery service provider, Scientific Games, announced that it has inked a partnership with a Montreal-based non-profit organization. Via this agreement, the two will partner on bringing an urban agricultural farm to the suppliersā Canadian lottery instant game production facility. It will help feed the local population and support the greening of industrial areas of Montreal.
Scientific Games is a leading brand in retail and digital products, technology and services that aid government-run lottery and sports betting activities. The company offers numerous services to its partners including data analytics, retail solutions and iLottery. Founded in 1973, the provider delivers its products to more than 130 lotteries in more than 50 countries worldwide.
Giving Back to Communities
The partnership is with La Cuisine Collective Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, which will now be allowed to build a community-inclusive, sustainable farm on Scientific Games’ land. The project also aligns with the initiative of the City of Montreal to greening the industrial areas. It will also provide jobs, offer educational workshops, and launch a business program for adults with intellectual disabilities.
Benoist De Peyrelongue, General Manager for La Cuisine Collective Hochelaga-Maisonneuve is appreciative of the providerās shared vision with the CCHM to support locals via the urban farm. In his words, it is the second farm that the organization has built as part of its mission to promote the right to healthy food and eating through a circular, community economy.
Now, the urban farmās fresh new products will be delivered to 40 local collective kitchens and to the organizationās community store, as well as other organizations that sell low-cost, quality fruits and vegetables. In addition to that, its produce will also be sent in food baskets sent to single-parent families and provided to the communityās most vulnerable individuals.
Once the new farm is fully operational the organization said that it expects to produce over 10 tons of fruits in vegetables in 2022-2023, then around 15 tons in 2023-2024. In an average year, it was estimated that its products will help secure 150,000 means and fill more than 2,600 food baskets. CCHM also reported that a greenhouse should be installed sometime in 2023-2024.
Other Contributions in the Province
In August 2022, Scientific Games also agreed to a new deal with Loto-QuĆ©bec, making the supplier one of the primary providers for the Crown agency. This came as tremendous news for the companyās 258 workers at its Hochelaga-Maisonneuve who celebrated the deal. The factory supplies gaming companies from all around the world, including Australia, the USA, France, Hungary, and more.
The lottery provider and the Crown corporation have been partners for quite a while. Their joint efforts have produced some important products for the industry. For instance, their Folie des Plantes or Plant Madness instant game which is produced on 100% recyclable paper won a respected Gutenberg Award. This was this yearās edition of the awards, which were the 40th Annual Gala Gutenberg.
