The new NHL season has just begun and the British Columbia Lottery Corporation is all in on the Vancouver Canucks. This week the Crown agency revealed its odds for the current season, and it has the local team with the highest chances of making the postseason playoffs. The Canucks have 1.76 odds of doing so on its PlayNow online wagering platform.
BCLC is a provincially-run agency that conducts regulated gambling and lottery entertainment for the province of British Columbia both online and at retail. Its online platform PlayNow is the only legal website in the province, in which revenue is reinvested straight back into the province. Proceeds from it are put into healthcare, education, and community programs.
Favourites for the Playoffs
After a summer of contract extensions and signing some fresh blood, the Vancouver Canucks will kick off their NHL season next Wednesday. On PlayNow, the team has 1.76 odds of making the postseason, in comparison to missing the playoffs at 2.05. Their benchmark for regular season points for this season is 93.5, a number the club has now surpassed since 2015.
And in order to reach playoffs, the Canucks will most likely be heavily dependent on their star centre Elias Pettersson and JT Miller. On PlayNow.com, the odds of Pettersson and Miller each scoring 30 goals is set at 2.50. The platform has set player O/U regular season total points and O/O regular season total goals for the two stars at 70.5 (1.87) 31.5 (1.87) and (1.87) 25.5 (1.87) respectively.
Meanwhile, other players such as Bo Horvat are at 55.5 (1.87) 25.5 (1.87), Conor Garland at 54.5 (1.87) 20.5 (1.87) Quinn Hughes at 65.5 (1.87) and Andrei Kuzmenko at N/A 19.5 (1.87). Bettors can also wager on if Hughes will be able to smash his own franchise record for most points by a defenceman currently at 2.00.
B.C. hockey fans can also place their bets on whether the team will reach the playoffs and whether the BC Lions will win the Grey Cup at 11.00. As an official sports betting partner to the Canucks, the BCLC offers more bets related to the team than any other sports betting website. PlayNow also reminds that the odds could be subject to change at any time.
The Only Legal Option in B.C.
In September, the BCLC used the start of the new National Football League season to remind its bettors that its PlayNow is the only regulated online sports betting platform in the province. The Crown’s Marie-Noëlle Savoie warned sports fans that these websites do not abide by provincial and federal laws and provincial regulations that aim to protect players.
In addition to premium sports betting options, PlayNow is also the home of some exceptional iCasino offerings. Such as its Wheel of Fortune-themed slot games which earlier this year celebrated 25 years as a brand. For the occasion, the website ran special weekly prizes of CA$40,000 and bettors were able to join by entering the WOF25 promo code.
