This time, the leading gaming brand has introduced NHL-themed casino games for its player bases in Ontario, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. It is still rather new for the NHL to partner with regulated gambling operators and has legal sports betting. In April this year, the league announced a deal with FanDuel and BetMGM making the two brands the first-ever North American sports betting partners of the NHL. As partners, the two now work on increasing the popularity of the league in markets through various initiatives.
New Product Arrives
On Thursday, October 6, 2022, BetMGM announced that it will be launching NHL-based casino games for its players in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan in the U.S. and Ontario in Canada. Some of the games will include roulette, blackjack, baccarat, and a live money wheel game, which will certainly appeal to hockey fans.
Oliver Bartlett, Director of Gaming, for the operator, said that the launch of these one-of-a-kind games will bolster the company’s relationship with the hockey league. In his words, the three-dimensional animations provide an engaging experience, as they transcend players onto the ice and directly on the company’s live dealer version of the same game.
Then there is NHL Roulette which impresses realistic ball movements, while NHL Blackjack will place participants at a table inside an arena skybox where they will have the option to move digitally between seats. There’s also Dream Catcher, which is a money wheel game, and it allows players to the number at which they think the wheel will come to a stop.
Speaking on behalf of the league, Jason Jazayeri, NHL Vice President, Business Development, shared that it is excited to build on its partnership with BetMGM via this latest project to develop NHL-branded casino titles. He believes that through the initiative the league will be able to deepen the affinity NHL fans have with the sport in a more captivating manner.
Before its launch in Ontario’s regulated market, BetMGM announced a collaboration agreement with NHL’s most prominent name – Wayne Gretzky. Through the deal, the four-time Stanley Cup champion became a hockey representative for the company’s North American marketing plans. Mr. Gretzky praised the company and said that it had a huge part in the dynamic changes occurring in the sports industry.
