One of the most popular poker tournaments World Poker Tour announced that it is back at the Bicycle Hotel & Casino to run the 16th season of the televised WPT Legends of Poker, awarding its one-billionth prize dollar.
With the end of the popular WSOP tournament, poker players are probably eyeing at the other note-worthy poker event, and more precisely World Poker Tour, which is hosted for a 16th consecutive time at the Bicycle Hotel & Casino in Southern California. The Season XV WPT Legends of Poker event is said to feature a variety of events, including No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, and mixed formats.
The event is currently under way and it is set to continue until 31st August. This year, the organizers of the event seem to follow the emblematic pattern of a televised WPT Legends of Poker Main Event, which is to start on 25th August and will take place up to 31st August.
The Bicycle Hotel & Casino has become the preferred destination for the World Poker Tour, as it will host the event for a 16th consecutive time. But this year seems to be special for the tournament, as it was reported that since its establishment as far back as 2002, the tournament has crowned 247 WPT Main Tour victors, 15 of them being the champions in WPT Legends of Poker. In terms of prize money, the organizers shared that more than $998 million was distributed among the players, who cashed in.
That is the reason why this is a special year for the tournament. After awarding the champions this year, the amount of distributed prize money will be totalling more than a billion. Hashem Minaiy, CEO of the Bicycle Hotel & Casino congratulated the Tournament Director, Mo Fathipour and shared his happiness to be the host of such a reputable event.
The organizers announced that due to the special occasion, the winner of the one-billionth prize dollar will secure a seat at the poker tables in the next season of WPT Legends of Poker Main Event, with a free stay at the Bicycle Hotel & Casino during the event.
Currently, many prominent poker heavyweights already confirmed their attendnace, including 14-time gold bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth and 2-time WPT Champions Club member Antonio Esfandiari and others. For years, the event is enjoying a constantly growing number of players, who are attracted by the life-changing prize money and the great variety of events, appropriate for experienced players and amateurs.
