Ontario Resident Snatches CA$70M Lotto Max Jackpot

On Wednesday, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation announced that the latest CA$70,000,000 jackpot in Lotto Max has been won. According to the Crown corporation, the mega prize from Tuesday’s round has gone to a ticket holder in Toronto, Ontario. The winner has up to 52 weeks to contact the agency and claim their substantial cash reward.

Lotto Max is one of Canada’s most popular lottery offerings, which is no surprise considering its main prize can reach the staggering CA$70 million. This is also the jackpot’s limit. Once the jackpot reaches CA$50 million, every draw also offers a chance of winning a Maxmillion prize. Each of those hefty windfalls is worth exactly CA$1,000,000.

Winner Found in Ontario

The last draw for Lott Max was held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, and shortly after it the OLG confirmed that the mega jackpot has been won. According to the Crown corporation, the holder of the winning ticket resides somewhere in Toronto, Ontario. Due to safety concerns more details about the winner will be revealed once they claim the life-changing prize.

On its website, the Crown agency revealed that the winning numbers for Tuesday’s round were 08, 19, 22, 41, 42, 46, 47, and Bonus 10. Ticket holders can check their numbers at retail locations, or use the OLG’s official app to scan them. Now, the lucky player will have up to 52 weeks to contact the agency and acquire the winnings before it expires.

Tuesday’s Lotto Max draw also came with five Maxmillion winners. They are from Quebec, Ontario, and the Prairies, with two of the tickets splitting one of the CA$1 million payouts. The OLG informed that the Ontario winners are from Toronto and Etobicoke. The draw also awarded two second prize winning tickets, each amounting to CA$625,178.40, which went to Cochrane District and Simcoe County.

The news about Ontario resident claiming another major Lotto Max prize, come right after a Hamilton woman won the amazing CA$60 million this April. The name of the winner is Leah Murdoch-Gerics who brough a CA$5 Quick Pick ticket on OLG.ca just in time for the April 19, 2022 draw. She later become a multi-millionaire with over CA$60 to her name.

Several months ago, Ontario witnessed another gargantuan Lotto Max winning as Manoharan Ponnuthurai from Brampton won a CA$70 million prize from the nation-wide lottery game. The 54-year-old also opted for Quick Pick option when purchasing his life-changing ticket for the December 17 2021 draw. However, despite the big windfall, he does not plan to retire early.

When claiming his prize in January 2022, the winner shared that he will not retire, but he plans on using some of the hefty reward to travel around the world with his family. With Europe and the Mediterranean Sea being among their top traveling targets. Mr. Ponnuthurai bought his ticket at the Circle K at Torbram Road and Countryside Drive in Brampton.
