Most recently the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has shared some exciting news. Ontario’s Crown agency revealed that it has been named in Canada’s Best Employers for 2022 list by Forbes. This is the first time that the organization has reached the list, which means that it is among the top 20 percent of companies that employ more than 500 personnel.
The OLG is the Crown corporation of Ontario, which oversees and develops first-class gaming entertainment for the province, but in a safe and regulated manner. It manages land-based gaming properties, as well as lottery games, iGaming, bingo offerings, and electronic gaming services at Charitable gaming centres. Since 1975, the Crown has secured CA$55 billion to the province from its gaming proceeds.
An Honor
President and CEO of the OLG, Duncan Hannay, commented that it is a true honor for the corporation to secure a place on Forbes’ Best Employers List. In his words, it is also great to learn that so many employees value and consider the OLG as a great work environment. He also urged every ambitious Ontario to seek the OLG as a place for work.
Mr. Hannay also said that the Crown corporation is an exciting gaming and entertainment entity that transforms the culture and operates in a way that delivers exceptional service to its customers. As well as providing economic growth to the province. This is the first time that the company has made its way into Canada’s Best Employers List, coming to rank 53 out of 300 others.
Canada’s Best Employers 2022 are selected by Forbes and Statista Inc. through an independent survey given to more than 10,000 employees who work for corporations with more than 500 employees in the country. The grade is compiled of direct and direct recommendations from staff who were asked to rate the willingness to recommend their employer to other people.
Senior Vice President of People and Culture, of the Crown corporation, Nancy Kennedy, said that what’s special about this award is the fact that it is voted by employees. She elaborated that the company’s employees live by OLG’s values, such as respecting, supporting, valuing their coworkers, and celebrating different perspectives and backgrounds. According to her, this is what makes the Crown a great place to work.
Allocations Distributed
Recently, the OLG started to issue its quarterly revenue-sharing allocations to the municipalities of Ontario. These payments are awarded to regions for the hosting of casino properties on their territories and are distributed under the Municipality Contribution Agreement. For example, last week, the City of Windsor received payment worth CA$2,158,545 for hosting Caesars Windsor Casino for the period of October 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021
Even more regions received their share of the non-tax gaming revenue last week. Peterborough and Cavan-Monaghan bagged CA$580,000 and CA$91,000 respectively. Greater Sudbury is just another example, as the city acquired an allocation amounting to CA$386,488 for the hosting of Gateway Casinos Sudbury. It should be noted that all payments are for the third quarter of the company’s 2021 FY.
