Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is once again proving its generosity at the end of the fiscal quarter. The City of Peterborough and Cavan-Monaghan recently bagged allocations from the daily operation of two casino hotspots. It all happens as a result of the Municipality Contribution Agreement casino host communities have inked with the leader.
Daily operation of land-based casinos is considered to be quite beneficial for the host municipalities, as they benefit from a slice of the gaming revenue accumulated over the given period. This comes as compensation for gambling operation and it is often used for beautification work and various local projects whether they are larger or smaller.

The City of Peterborough received some $580,000 for the ongoing work at Shorelines Casino, one of the latest casino projects in the region. On the other hand, Cavan-Monaghan was allocated some $91,000 at the end of the third quarter of the fiscal year. Kawartha Downs is the hotspot supporting the local community with its gaming revenue allocations. Local fans of horse racing make it all possible.
The latter location has benefited from quarterly payments ever since 1999, when Kawartha Downs and Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation commenced their support. Over this time period, the city coffers bagged a total of $61 million in non-tax gaming revenue allocations. In the meantime, the City of Peterborough also benefitted from casino allocations. Shorelines Casino commenced daily operation in October 2018.
Over the months since then, the community received some $6,000,000. Greater Sudbury is another Ontario community that has the local gambling hotspot to thank for the additional money flow. It recently received some $386,488 from the Crown corporation overseeing daily gaming operation in the region. The hotspot in question is no other than Gateway Casinos Sudbury. The payment covers daily work from October 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021.

Greater Sudbury has been receiving this support since November 1999 and over these years, the total is $45.6 million. Even though October 25, 2021 witnessed a lift of capacity restrictions for Ontario brick-and-mortar casino locations, gaming revenue accumulated still suffered the impact. The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is another recipient of the regular allocations of casino revenue. At the end of this third quarter, it bagged some $326,705.
This happens because of the daily operation of Cascades Casino Chatham. Since April 2001, the region has received a total of $14.1 million via the Municipality Contribution Agreement inked. Central Huron is the last casino host community we will discuss today. Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation granted it some $111,782 at the end of this quarter, as Gateway Casino Clinton remains popular.
Allocations to its coffers commenced in August 2003 and over this period of time, it has amassed some $12.3 million. Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson expressed her satisfaction with the recent support and hope to see the gaming hotspot reopen soon. It could be recalled that January 5 witnessed a new temporary suspension of operation of gambling locations across Ontario.
