On Saturday, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation confirmed that the country has a new lottery multimillionaire. According to the Crown agency, last Friday’s December 17 draw for the popular Lotto Max game, found a winner for the jackpot amounting to the staggering CA$70,000,000. The winner has 52 weeks to claim their hefty prize.
Lotto Max is one of the most popular draw-based games in Canada. Every week, there are two draws for the game, and ticket holders participate for the chance of winning a jackpot that can reach the stunning amount of CA$70 million. According to OLG data, since 2009, Ontarians have won over CA$6.5 billion in Lotto Max prizes.
Next Big Winner
On Saturday, the OLG reported that Canada has found its next lottery multimillionaire. The Crown noted that the winning ticket for Friday’s Lotto Max jackpot is located somewhere in Brampton, Ontario. Due to safety concerns, the corporation will not provide an exact location for the site of purchase. Now, the winner must contact the Crown to claim their CA$70,000,000 windfall.
Friday’s draw has also awarded two more prizes to Ontario residents as two prizes worth CA$250,582.40 have been won. The first one is a ticket holder from Mississauga and the other winner resides in Toronto. Additionally, the OLG informs that an Encore ticket was sold in Toronto, and its ticket holder will be surprised with a reward worth is CA$100,000.
However, the other popular lottery game Lotto 6/49 did not find a winner for its main prize during the last round on Saturday, December 18, 2021. The jackpot stood at the impressive CA$10.8 million, but no ticket from the provinces matched the winning six numbers which were 02, 10, 15, 16, 20, 49, and Bonus 18.
The draw’s guaranteed CA$1 million prize was won by a ticket with a number of 56539473-02. Canadian lotteries now advise all ticket holders to carefully check their Lotto 6/49 tickets. The next draw for the game is scheduled for Wednesday, December 22, 2021, and the jackpot will reach an even greater amount – CA$14 million.
McGregor Couple Wins CA$1 Million
Last week, the OLG announced that Kimberly and Gary Noel are winners of a Guaranteed CA$1 million prize from Lotto 6/49. The couple from McGregor saw their ticket emerge as the lucky one for the hefty prize in the November 27 round. Now, with the money, they plan on treating themselves with early Christmas presents.
CA$8.8 Million Won in Ontario
Ontario has seen many winners over the last few weeks. At the start of December, the OLG confirmed that a Lotto 6/49 jackpot worth CA$8.8 million has been won by a local. The name of the winner is yet unknown, however, the Crown agency reported that the lucky ticket holder resides in Mississauga. Due to safety reasons, the identity of the winner will be revealed after they claim their hefty prize at an OLG office.
