Most recently the horse racing leader of Ontario – Woodbine Entertainment has provided more information on its Pop-Up events format. The special races have already started and they are taking place at the company’s Woodbine Mohawk Park in Milton. The track’s recent announcement was made to remind all participants about the requirements and purses.
The ongoing Pop-Up events for designed for horses that have not won more than CA$25,000 for the 2021 live racing season, while having participated in a minimum of 10 races during the calendar year. There are three legs for the events, and a final with CA$30,000 in purses for the highest earners.

Woodbine Mohawk Park informs that entries for the third leg for all horses that started in one of the first two legs are now open and can be submitted to the track. The Race Office also notifies that there will be consolation offered depending on the number of entries. Also, the fields for the finals and tiered consolations will be consisting of the highest earners.
The company reveals that the third leg will have a final with CA$30,000 in purses and two consolations one worth CA$20,000 and the second one CA$15,000. Additionally, the Pop-Up Series will feature different events for pacing horses, pacing mares, and trotters. The first leg for the pacing horse was hosted on November 22, with leg number two coming on November 29 and the final on December 6.
The first leg of the pacing mares will be hosted on Thursday, November 25, with the second one occurring in early December on the second day of the month. The final for this event is scheduled for Thursday, December 9. Leg 1 for the trotters will be also on November 25, with the second one also hosted on December 2, and the final is announced for December 9.
New Winter Races Confirmed
At the start of November, Woodbine Entertainment revealed that it will be adding four new Winter Series events for its Woodbine Mohawk Park. The series will start off this December and it will run through March next year. According to the horse racing leader, the four additions to the program will be the New Year Claiming Pace, New Year Claiming Trot, and the Ontario Boys and Ontario Girls.
The four new events at the Milton horse racing oval will be joining the familiar Niagara, Valedictory, Blizzard, Snowshoe, Wine & Roses, and Family Day from the Winter Series. The company has also informed the four events will consist of two preliminary legs and an added money final. Also, nominations for the series are now open and they will be accepted until December 1, 2021.
Planning the Next Mohawk Million
After the success of this year’s edition of the Mohawk Million event, the horse racing leader shared its plans to host the exciting standardbred competition again next summer. This year’s running took place on September 25 at the track and Venerable managed to outpace nice other horses in the second richest race for two-year-olds. Horse owners can now start preparing for next summer.
