On September 9, 2021, Woodbine Entertainment declared its support of the new provincial health and safety protocols to provide proof of vaccination while entering some indoor locations. Now, the horse racing leader will also be implementing the new provisions for its horse racing or casino facilities, and soon guests and employees of the properties will have to present immunization proof.
In order to provide a safer environment, last week the horse racing leader announced its plan to implement a full vaccination proof for the unprecedented situation for its inside operations. This rule will go into effect starting from September 15, 2021, and will be for staff, horse racing people, and contractors.
More on the New Protocols
Woodbine Entertainment has provided further information on how the new rules will apply to all parties. According to the new provisions, starting from September 22, 2021, guests of the company’s properties, such as entering Woodbine Racetrack, Casino Woodbine, Woodbine Mohawk Park Racetrack, Elements Casino Mohawk, Greenwood Teletheatre, and WEGZ Stadium Bar, will be required to show full immunization proof.
Employees of Woodbine Entertainment will also have to provide proof of full vaccination in order to enter the following properties: Woodbine Racetrack, Woodbine Mohawk Park, Greenwood Teletheatre, and WEGZ Stadium Bar. The company informs that personnel, who are not yet fully immunized will have to undergo an Enhanced Screening Program, which includes Antigen testing.
Most of the casino employees in Casino Woodbine and Elements Casino Mohawk are not employed by the company, and they will not undergo the Vaccination Policy for employees. Horse racing participants, however, must present proof of vaccination to gain entry to the two tracks and the stabling areas. Similarly, if participants are not fully vaccinated, they will be required to enter the Enhanced Screening Program.
CEO of the horse racing leader, Jim Lawson, said that the company remains supportive of Ontario’s safety plan to include racing tracks and casinos in the venues that require proof of vaccine. Mr. Lawson shared that the company was considering the requirement for a long time, and it is now prepared to implement it and protect its staff, guests, horse racing people, and the community as a whole.
On-Site Sportsbooks
Previously, Mr. Lawson and the current CCO of the company Michael Copeland revealed that they are looking for additional sources of revenue for the firm. The CEO revealed that they are now considering adding on-site sportsbooks and one-stop shopping for sports wagerers. He also shared that the company is willing to collaborate with one of the newly entering big-name players brands as the country has legalized single-sports betting.
