Most currently the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame Board of Directors has come out with a statement regarding the gathering of its Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame’s Classes of 2020 and 2021. The institution claimed that despite the recent improvement of restrictions surrounding the unprecedented situation, the organization still cannot provide exact dates for the celebration of both classes.
The board of the entity is concerned that there are still some uncertainties around indoor gatherings. In addition to that, there are already some difficulties in organizing major indoor events and whether it will be feasible and appropriate. However, there should be more details from the organization in the near future.
No Official Date Yet
The Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame stated that it realizes that its decision to postpone the celebrations even further may come as disappointing to all of its inductees and their connections. However, the institution ensures that it will continue to closely monitor the situation so it can decide when it will be appropriate to host a celebration event for its inductees.
According to the horse racing entity, the organization’s intention is to provide its Inductees of the Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 with the recognition that they undoubtedly deserve. Also, that they deserve the same induction experience that has been bestowed on previous members of the Hall of Fame, and that the honour recognizes the lifetime achievement of an athlete.
The organization also believes that when members are awarded such an honour they must also be accompanied by their closest ones when they receive their ring or trophy. Another reason for the delay in the ceremonies is the fact that the annual Induction Gala is used as a way to raise funds for the organization. This way the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame can cover the costs of many operations.
Since the gala event is officially registered as a charity, all who make monetary donations to the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame will receive a contribution tax receipt. Donations can be made on the organization’s official website at canadianhorseracinghalloffame.com and navigating to the Donate Now tab. The institution will soon reveal the Nomination and Election of the Class of 2022.
Burlington Hall of Fame
Recently, Jim Lawson who is the CEO of the Ontario horse racing leader Woodbine Entertainment has been included in the Burlington Sports Hall of Fame. Mr. Lawson has been awarded the honour for his contribution to football, hockey, and of course horse racing. His hockey career started with the Ottawa 67’s then reaching the NHL and playing for the Montreal Canadians.
Return of Live Races
The live harness industry has suffered a rather turbulent last 16 months, as there were several closures and restarts of operations in Ontario. At the start of June, Woodbine Entertainment excited fans with the news that races in the province can once again recommence. The Standardbred season at the company’s Woodbine Mohawk Park was allowed to restart on June 11, 2021.
