Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is here to support Canadian athletes participating in the Tokyo Summer Olympics that launched just recently. The Crown corporation announced its collaboration with the CBC, in order to bring to life “The Quest”. It will unveil the inspiring stories of five athletes part of Team Canada representing the province of Ontario in particular.
This series will come with as many as five episodes, each of which will tell the story of one Ontario-born athlete currently striving to make all Canadians proud of the Olympics. All five of them have benefited from the Quest for Gold series of lottery tickets, also powered by the Crown corporation and intriguing locals with their mutually beneficial arrangement.
The Quest
Ever since 2006, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has worked in close collaboration with the Ontario Government, in order to support amateur athletes that have shown a great level of success in the sport they are best at. All of them had to be born and based within the province if they wanted to become an eligible member of the Quest for Gold program.
The lottery ticket sales were quite a success across the province, as people wanted to show their support to these athletes. In the meantime, the funds accumulated through these sales were used for alleviating some of the financial burden of training even on an amateur level. Moreover, they were also useful for covering rent, training camps, equipment, and education-related expenses. Duncan Hannay, OLG’s President and CEO, recently expressed his pride in everything achieved.
He pointed out that the lottery corporation is excited to be able to support athletes with its special series of lottery tickets. He also wished good luck in Tokyo to the talented Canadians. Upcoming days will see more on their performance in the different disciplines and the Crown corporation hopes to see gold medals come home.
Collaboration with Government, CBC
The five Canadians that will each have one episode of the series are Ghislaine Landry from Toronto, Rosie MacLennan, Margaret MacNeil from London, Kylie Masse, and Melissa Humana-Paredes from Toronto. They will represent Canada in rugby, gymnastics swimming, and beach volleyball respectively. The episodes in question will air on CBC when the Tokyo Summer Olympics are being covered. Moreover, there will also be airing on TSN and Sportsnet.
