Cascades Casino North Bay appears to have its construction almost completely stalled due to the unprecedented situation and the dynamically changing circumstances. The casino location was supposed to launch daily gaming operation in 2020 but it is currently getting its protective cladding done as a protective measure against the elements.
The region of North Bay is about to witness the official opening of a premium casino complex overseen by Gateway Casinos and Entertainment next year. The project was supposed to be completed in 2020, but the unprecedented situation mandated the complete stop of construction on Pinewood Park Drive in North Bay in the spring months. Locals have been monitoring the area and they recently saw some work being done.
Protective Cladding
Rob Mitchell, Director, Communications at Gateway Casinos, said that there is no construction work happening right now. What locals have seen recently was the addition of an outside protective cladding to the casino building itself. Now is the right time for the installation of such protection, as the winter months are ahead of us and the building will need fortifying.
The protective measure will keep the future Cascades Casino North Bay protected against the low temperatures, wind, rain, and snow. The concrete floor of the casino has already been poured ahead of this springās lockdown but ever since then, no additional work has been done. Over the past eight months, the casino operator has not resumed construction work on the premises of the future casino location.
What should be pointed out is that Gateway Casinos is determined to see Cascades Casino North Bay launch operation in 2021 and there is no change of plans. Mr. Mitchell said that the casino operator has not given up on its plans to see well-rounded casino operation in the North Bay region in the foreseeable future. The constantly changing situation mandates flexibility across the gambling field and many local businesses.
Projections for the Future
It could be recalled that the month of April saw construction work at Pinewood Park Drive come to a halt. Workers taking care of the construction of the casino complex have put their work on pause as a result of the unprecedented situation, following the guidelines issued by the provincial government. It became clear that construction work would not continue in the foreseeable future, as it is not considered an essential business.
The CA$31.1-million casino complex was expected to be finished later this year, as its construction commenced in May 2019. About 300 individuals are going to find their employment at Cascades Casino North Bay, making the project one of the positive boosts for the local economy and job market. The casino complex is about to span over 39,000 square feet of area, bringing together gambling offerings, as well as family-friendly offerings.
When all is said and done, a diversified crowd is about to frequent the area. Expectations back in the spring months were that it will bring up to CA$2 million to the North Bay city coffers within its first year of in-person operation.
