Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation reveals this week that it has made its way into Forbes’ list of Canada’s Best Employers for a third consecutive year. The prestigious list is mostly based on input from direct and indirect recommendations from employees who were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their employer to their friends and close ones.
OLG is a state-run agency that conducts and oversees brick-and-mortar gaming properties, the sale of lottery games, iGaming, and the offering of bingo and other electronic gaming products at charitable gaming centres. It supports health care, tackling problem gambling and amateur athletes via its operations. Since 1975, it has delivered over CA$59 billion to the province.
Third Year in a Row
Duncan Hannay, OLG’s President and CEO commented the Crown corporation is honoured to be selected in Forbes’ list for a third consecutive year. In his words, it is a testament to OLG’s journey to develop a winning culture at its offices resonating with its staff and the investments made in its people while having a positive impact on how they feel while being employed at OLG.
Мr. Hannay continued by saying that employees of the Crown agency are deeply invested in its purpose of making a better Ontario. He said that every day they show up to work and put tremendous effort to provide great gaming entertainment and make a real difference for people throughout the province. The CEO shared he is honoured to be working with the rest of OLGers.
Canada’s Best Employers for 2024 is selected by Forbes and Statista Inc. via an independent survey of over 40,000 employees who work for companies with more than 500 employees in the country. The evaluation relies on direct and indirect recommendations from employees who are asked how likely they are to recommend their employer to friends and families, and feedback from the general public.
Meanwhile, Esther Zdolec, OLG’s Senior Vice President of People and Culture, said it is humbling to know that many staff members continue to feel the corporation is a great place to work. She added that the team is making progress on a shared objective of nurturing a workplace that is inclusive, innovative and engaging, and a place where different perspectives and backgrounds are celebrated.
Aiding Basketball Communities
On top of being a reliable employer, OLG is also a major contributor to community initiatives across Ontario. This month, the Crown united efforts with the Toronto Raptors in the Home Court Advantage campaign. Its objective is to provide support and donate funds to four community basketball organizations which change people’s lives via the sport.
However, this was not the first basketball collaboration between the agency and the Raptors. In April 2023, the two joined efforts in the ”Borough Ballers” initiative. It was inspired by the Toronto Raptors City Edition jersey that celebrated the six boroughs of the city. The initiative generated a total of CA$91,132, which was awarded to community basketball organizations,
