NFL is once more attracting Ontarian sports bettors, indicate latest reports from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. The Dallas Cowboys’ 33-13 home win over the Philadelphia Eagles over the weekend was the most wagered-on game of the week on OLG’s PROLINE. To no surprise, the top-five betting events of the week were all NFL games.
As a state-run agency, OLG responsibly offers gambling and sports betting while also returning 100% of its profits to Ontario. Via its PROLINE brand, the Crown corporation offers legal sports betting at retail locations across the province. Its sports wagering brand is also available online on OLG.ca under the PROLINE+ tab.
NFL is King Again
According to the OLG, the game between the Cowboys and the Eagles was the most bet-on event for the week with the Dallas team being the favourite for the win. However, only 43% of the bettors picked the Cowboys on the moneyline, while 60% correctly predicted the winners to cover and with both teams having strong offences, 31% of bettors opted for the eventual under.
Earlier, the Buffalo Bills managed to grind a tight 20-17 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, and 55% of players correctly had the Bills on the moneyline while 54% had them with the spread. Buffalo’s quarterback Josh Allen was the most popular choice as anytime TD scored, and he did not disappoint. The Chiefs’ Travis Kelce was the most popular of the team on the bet.
Meanwhile, the NBA’s In-Season Tournament ended over the weekend and the LA Lakers stood their ground against the Indian Pacers 123-109. Approximately 65% of the bettors correctly put the Lakers on the moneyline but only 24$ picked the team to cover the 5.5-point spread. Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks were the most popular picks before the tourney started.
OLG reported that one bettor turned a CA$2 bet into CA$1,590 with a successful 10-leg pick. Also, a retail customer won an amazing CA$9,818 from a CA$20 eight-leg bet on NFL and NHL action. But an online user of PROLINE claimed the stunning CA$11,813 from a CA$30, nine-leg bet on NFL and NHL games from last week.
Marking the Holidays with Exclusive Tickets
For the upcoming winter holidays, OLG has also announced the launch and return of several exclusive lottery tickets. Lottery fans can now buy their tickets for the newly added Merry Millions coming with a total of 408 guaranteed prizes from CA$1,000 to CA$1 million. Its popular CA$100 Ultimate has also made its comeback for the holidays.
However, the Crown corporation also urges adults in the province to be careful when gifting lottery tickets. It reminded parents that all lottery products, including scratch and win tickets, are a form of gambling and should not be gifted to children. Exposing youth to underage gambling can have an impact on their future as it would be easier to develop gambling-related problems.
