Sandra Parsons, who is a realtor and event organizer from Coquitlam, B.C. wants to honour her late husband by hosting a gambling night to raise funds for children with serious medical conditions. Her plan is to host her annual fundraiser for the Zajac Ranch for Children next month at Hard Rock Casino Vancouver and the goal is to raise around CA$10,000.
Zajac Ranch, established back in 2004 by Stave Lake, is a 41-acre camp that provides adaptive water sports, horseback riding, hiking, and theatre activities. Catering to around 500 children annually with disabilities or medical conditions like autism, epilepsy, and cerebral palsy, it provides a diverse range of experiences and support.
Casino Night in September
Ms. Parsons explained that her late husband was a devoted supporter of charity organizations and particularly those helping children in need in B.C. That is why for this yearās event she is organizing a casino night to raise funds for Zajac Ranch for Children. At the event, guests will be able to have a fun night of playing blackjack and bingo, while contributing to a good cause.
Located at 2080 United Blvd. in Coquitlam, Hard Rock Casino Vancouver will be used as a venue for Ms. Parsonsā gambling night on September 16, 2023. The objective of the event is to generate approximately CA$10,000 in funds to give youth with chronic conditions the chance to grow and play. Money from the event will go for camp fees for next summer, said the organization.
Chairman of the organization, Mel Zajac commented that he is honoured to support Mr. Parsonsā initiative, especially for her late husbandās legacy of compassion, love, and life-changing camp experiences. The 95-year-old philanthropist also said that the event is always fun and energetic, and he urged more people from the region to attend.
Casino Night for Zajac Ranch, organized by Ms. Parsons and the HomePro RE/MAX real estate team, will take place on September 16, 2023, starting at 6 p.m. at Hard Rock Casino Vancouver. Tickets cost CA$100 and include one free glass of champagne punch, delectable canapes, and charcuterie. Those who arrive early can get a CA$25 discount, however, those are limited.
More Gambling-Related Contribution in B.C.
Recently, it was reported that some staff members from Chances Maple Ridge Casino in the province have managed to generate hundreds of dollars for organizations via a charity car wash. The volunteers donated funds to the Starfish Pack Program and Friends in Need Food Bank. Children of the staff also joined the initiative and helped the initiative.
Over the years, there have been plenty of instances of gambling workers or casinos contributing to local organizations. One of those examples is the staff at RimRock Casino in Port Alberni collecting forgotten change and slips at the property and converting them to donations. It split the money between Abbeyfield House, the Salvation Army, and Kiwanis Hilton Childrenās Centre.
