Great Canadian Entertainment has issued a major announcement as Canada’s largest casino resort is set to open its doors in the summer of 2023. The leading land-based casino operator reported that its CA$1 billion brand-new entertainment resort will be branded as Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto, and will be located at the intersection of Highways 401 and 427.
Established back in 1982, CGE is one of Canada’s largest gaming and hospitality operators with over 25 gaming, entertainment and hospitality sites across the country. It operates facilities in Ontario, B.C., New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. Its Toronto project will open this summer with a 400-room hotel, 5000-seat live show venue, new parkade and more that will complement it.
Launching This Summer
Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto will impress with innovative architecture while stretching over 33 acres of land. The new site will be in close proximity to Woodbine Racetrack, and it will feature a premium Las Vegas-style casino, accompanied by a 400-room hotel, a 5,000-seat live entertainment venue, and several dining amenities, all of which bring a breath of fresh air in Toronto.
In its press release, the gaming operator also informed that its existing and up-and-running Casino Woodbine in the area will continue work without interruption until the new CA$1 billion resort debuts. The new property is set to officially open doors sometime in the summer of 2023, and the gambling leader said that it will provide an official opening date in the upcoming weeks.
Matthew Anfinson, CEO of the operator, shared that the company sees the project as an unprecedented opportunity to debut an entirely new experience in the country, which will bring together the best from gaming, live entertainment, dining, and accommodation together. He added that the company will soon reveal more landmark destinations in the coming weeks and a date for the Toronto property.
Furthermore, GCE’s popular Great Canadian Rewards program, which debuted in Ontario in August 2022, will also be incorporated into the new property’s offerings, as well as its other casinos in the province. Its members receive the best rates when booking hotel stays at GCE resorts while also getting receive special discounts and perks such as comp dollars that can be redeemed at participating restaurants, or for gaming credits.
Enhancing Offerings in Ontario
Recently, Great Canadian Entertainment opened a hotel to the public at its Pickering Casino Resort. The casino resort opened in July 2021, and its new hospitality part offers over 275 premium guest rooms which vary from 388 square feet to 775 square feet. There are also 33 luxurious and spacious suites equipped with separate living spaces and 22 accessible rooms.
In the fall of 2022, the leading casino operator kicked off retail sports betting at 10 of its properties across Ontario. Six of its venue debuted the product via sports betting kiosks, while the other four launched dedicated Great Canadian Sportsbooks. Shorelines Casino Peterborough was also among the properties to debut the new offering to its many patrons.
