The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has once more made it to Forbes’ list of Best Employers in Canada. The Crown agency has been included in the prestigious list for the second year in a row, and this year it has gained a few ranks and it is now placing in the top 15% of the top employers which were recognized for their efforts in 2023.
Being a state-run Crown corporation, OLG offers regulated gambling entertainment to the Province of Ontario, but in a socially responsible manner. It oversees land-based gambling properties, the sale of lottery games, iGaming, and the delivery of bingo and more related offerings. Second Consecutive Year
OLG’s President and CEO, Duncan Hannay, stated that it was an honour for the Crown to be once more included in Forbes’ list of best employers in Canada and that it was great to know that this many of the Crown’s employees find it a great place to work. He added that as an employer of choice, he is proud to work on transforming the gaming entertainment industry in Ontario.
In this year’s top employers list, the Crown corporation placed at number 41 out of 300 companies who were also included in Forbes’ rankings. This means that this year, OLG has moved up 12 spots and also made second place in its sector. Meanwhile, the first spot for the industry was occupied by Marriott International which is a major hospitality firm.
Canada’s Best Employers of 2023 list is conducted by Forbes and Statista Inc. via an independent survey of employees who work for corporations with more than 500 employees in the country. The assessment is based on direct and indirect recommendations from employees who were questioned to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family.
OLG’s Senior Vice President of People and Culture, Esther Zdolec, said that making the list means so much more to the company as it is completely employee driven and demonstrates how proud OLGers are to be working for the Crown. He noted that the company’s personnel are devoted to doing good for the province and they support and value their colleagues and celebrate different perspectives and backgrounds.
Recent Announcements
Over the last few weeks, OLG has made some important announcements regarding its activities. This month, the Crown corporation sent out its quarterly gaming revenue payments to 29 casino host communities in the province. The City of Toronto was also one of them for hosting Casino Woodbine and its coffers will be boosted by CA$6.3 million in Q3 of 2022-2023.
Not long after that, the OLG also revealed This week, the Crown agency announced a multi-year contract extension with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. Via this latest agreement, PROLINE+ will become the official sports betting partner of Real Sports. The partnership began with an exclusive fan experience at the venue, where fans were able to win numerous prizes.
