This week, Loto-Québec and Gestev announced that the two companies will build on their previous partnership for Casino Montréal. Through the new agreement, Gestev, a subsidiary of Québecor Sports and Entertainment and a major event production firm is set to take over Gatineau’s Théâtre du Casino du Lac-Leamy at the Crown corporation’s casino property.
Gestev is a leading event management company which specializes in events and happenings that leave their mark on the local and world stage. The company already cooperates with the Vidéotron Centre, the Baie de Beauport, the Capitole Theatre, Musicor, the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal, and now the Théâtre du Casino du Lac-Leamy.
Upping Entertainment Levels
Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Québecor commented that this newest partnership further cements the company’s long-term commitment to promoting local and international artists on the stage. The CEO stated that for more than 60 years, the firm has demonstrated it support for the cultural and economic heritage, which go hand in hand with the values of the company.
Casino Lac-Leamy General Manager, Patrick Lamy, said that the Crown agency is happy to pass the torch to Gestev for its Théâtre du Casino du Lac-Leamy. He shared that after such as successful year for the Cabaret Du Casino de Montreal, Gestev will be able to also bring a strong lineup to cater to the needs and interests of the audiences in Ottawa and the Outaouais.
The event management firm has already revealed some of the upcoming music and comedy shows for 2023, and tickets are already on sale. Starting off with Gregory Charles and his one-of-a-kind Music Man show on February 9, 2022. Then later in February, homegrown star Roch Voisine will take over the stage with songs from his youth that to this date still shape the music industry.
In March guests of the theatre will be able to enjoy a rock music festival as Elyzabeth Diaga’s musical review Queens of Rock on March 3, followed by the critically acclaimed musical Rock Story on March 11 come to the scene. Then in April, Ultimate Elves will perform with the Dean Z tribute show, followed by C’est si bon… de danser, a stage adaptation of the radio show C’est si bon.

At the start of the year, Lac Leamy Casino and its staff members reached an agreement on a new collective contract. CUPE 3892, which represents 300 workers from the casino ratified a deal with Loto-Québec. At the video conference, 96% of the members voted in favour of the recently proposed contract including a wage increase of 2% for 2020, as well as 3% for 2021 and 2022 respectively, a 2.5% rise for 2023, and 2% for 2024.
However, it should be mentioned that at the end of 2021, the Gatineau casino become part of a controversy regarding health protocols after a Radio-Canada investigation. a nursing assistant at the Hull Hospital was the first one to report the issue. She explained that on her first visit to the casino she was requested to present proof of vaccination at entry, and she noticed that lots of individuals were not wearing their protective face masks.
