Canada’s provincial lotteries have informed that after weeks of accumulations, the mega Lotto Max jackpot has finally been claimed. On Friday, October 21, 2022, Lotto Max held its second-largest draw for the game, and the life-changing prize worth CA$70,000,000 was won by an Albertan ticket holder. Players also won many of the available Maxmillion payouts.
Lotto Max is among the top preferred lottery options across Canada due to its hefty payouts and two weekly draws. The winning numbers for the game are drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays. As the latest draw shows, its jackpot can reach the whooping CA$70 million, while there also plenty of other cash prizes such as second prizes and Maxmillion payouts worth millions.
The Wait is Over
In a news release on Saturday, spokesperson for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, Tony Bitonti confirmed that the mega jackpot has finally found its lucky winner. It was a long and excruciating 20 consecutive draws but the CA$70 million payout has gone to a ticket holder in Calgary, Alberta. The winner must now contact his corresponding provincial lottery provider.
The draw on Friday, October 21, 2022, was the second-largest prize pool of the game with over CA$133 million in cash prizes – the jackpot and an impressive amount of 63 Maxmillions, each worth CA$1 million. And according to information from the OLG, out of those 63, 28 were won by ticket holders across the country.
Ontario once more led the charts, and recorded the largest amount of Maxmillion wins, as the province reported a total of 11 winners. Tickets worth CA$1 million were sold Kingston, Kitchener, Niagara and Vaughan, while two were sold in Nepean. Four other holders will split the prize, they are from Brampton, the Peel Region, St. Catharines and Toronto.
Mr. Bitonti shared that he is pleased with the major winning as Ontarians scored some hefty payouts. However, he also noted that many winning tickets expire without being claimed. Now, in preparation for the next draw, lottery fans will be happy to hear that the jackpot will start at CA$52 million and there will be two Maxmillions for grabs.
Previous Mega Winners
This year, Canada has witnessed several winners of a CA$70 million prize from the fan-favourite Lotto Max. At the start of the year, 54-year-old Manoharan Ponnuthurai cashed out his ticket worth exactly that. For December 17, 2021, draw the Brampton player opted for the Quick Pick option on his ticket, which turned out to be pretty cool for him.
In June, Quebecer Marcel Lussier also won a stunning CA$70 million jackpot. The former Hydro-Québec employee shared that he discovered his gargantuan win by checking the numbers online. With the money, he plans to help an entrepreneur rebuild Ukraine. And as a treat for himself and his wife, he wants them to go on a cruise together, as their previous one was cancelled.
