As the Metaverse continues to expand in the online space, emerging reports suggest that soon Canadians might be able to visit casinos while in virtual reality. Some gambling leaders have recently informed that they plan on purchasing land in the Metaverse and using it for a digital casino, which people will be able to visit with a VR set.
The Metaverse is a virtual universe where people can interact with other people from all over the world connected by one digital space. In this new digital reality, participants can go on virtual trips, attend meetings, and communicate with their friends. The introduction of casinos would be great news for the gambling industry of Canada and the global one as a whole.
A New Gambling Reality
The Canadian gambling industry and bettors will certainly benefit from the creation of these life-like digital casinos in the Metaverse. With the online version of land-based casinos, trips to such places would be in a much safer environment considering the current world order. In addition to that, visitors will not be worried about casinos’ working hours or what they are going to wear.
By changing the Internet from 2D to 3D, the whole notion of the internet will be changed as well, this will have effect on gambling say industry leaders. With their VR headset, players will be able to interact as they are actually there, creating avatars, purchasing items, and gambling at the digital casinos. Some companies suggest that some of the transactions would also use cryptocurrency, as such payments are already quite common with wagering providers.
This new reality would provide an almost life-like experience to gamblers, as they will be able to communicate and interact with their friends via the internet while visiting such a casino. In addition to that, players would not be bound by casino working hours, and they will be able to attend them at any time from the comfort of their homes.
Facebook and Metaverse creator Mark Zuckerberg, however, said that the technology inherit is a long away. In his words, we can expect to see some development of the Metaverse to kick off in the 5 to 15 years’ time. According to him, there is constant research that aims to provide advancements, so the technology would be available between 2026 and 2036.
Improvement of Offerings
In the meantime, Canadian bettors have plenty of offerings available when it comes to online and in-person wagering. Last summer the country’s gambling industry made a huge stride forward as the country as it legalized wagering on individual sporting events. On the day of the legalization, several provincial lotteries such as BCLC, Loto-Quebec, OLG, and Atlantic Lottery Corporation launched their first products of this kind.
In addition to that, Ontario, which is Canada’s most populous province will be soon launching an open online gaming market for private operators.
