This week, the horse racing leader of Ontario – Woodbine Entertainment announced its Winter Series program for its Woodbine Mohawk Park. The company shared more details about the upcoming closing program at the track and informed that there will be four more racing events added to the schedule at Milton’s horse racing oval.
The Winter Series is set to be conducted from December to March next year at the Woodbine Mohawk Park and will include a total of ten racing events. With all of them, featuring two preliminary legs and an added money final. The company also announced that Nominations for the races will be accepted until December 1, 2021.
For New Additions
For the upcoming winter races at Woodbine Mohawk Park, Woodbine Entertainment has decided to include a pair of claiming series for Ontario-sired four-year-olds, and the events Ontario Boys and Ontario Girls for Ontario-sired four-year-olds. The company also informs that the horse who entered the claiming series will be eligible to be claimed in all legs of the events.
The new four events will be joining the returning and already familiar Niagara, Valedictory, Blizzard, Snowshoe, Wine & Roses, and Family Day. The New Year Claiming Pace for Ontario Sired four-year-old pacers is one of the new additions with the first leg set for January 1, 2021, the second one on Saturday, January 8, and the final coming on Saturday, January 15.
Next is the New Year Claiming Trot for Ontario Sire four-year-old trotters also taking place in 2022. It will begin on January 3, 2022, with the second leg coming on January 10, 2022, and the final is scheduled for January 17. Three & four-year-old trotting colts, horses & geldings in 2022, non-winners of $60,000 lifetime as of midnight October 31, 2022. With legs coming on February 7 and 14. The final here is on February 21.
The Ontario Girls for Ontario Sired four-year-old pacing mares will start with a first leg on February 17, the second leg on February 24, and a final on March 3. Then there is the Ontario Boys for Ontario Sired four-year-old pacing horses & geldings are have not registered CA$75,000 in winnings before October 31, 2021. The first leg for the event is on February 18, the second one on February 25, and the final comes on March 4, 2022.
One More Edition Confirmed
Recently, Woodbine Entertainment shared its satisfaction with the second running of the Mohawk Million race, which was held this summer at the Woodbine Mohawk Million race track. The company’s CEO Jim Lawson said that the leader is quite pleased with the interest in the event this year, and is now informing horse owners and breeders that plans on hosting the event again next summer.
Impressive Wagering Volume at The Queen’s Plate
Also, this summer, the horse racing leader of Ontario hosted the 162nd edition of The Queen’s Plate, which is one of the oldest and most prestigious horse racing events in the country. The company revealed that for the Sunday during which the event was hosted on its Woodbine Racetrack, the race card managed to generate over CA$16.1 million in wagering handle.
