Matthew Poppels from Saskatoon has made history as the winner of a Lotto Max jackpot in the October 19 draw is now the CA$55,000,000 richer. He is now the holder of the second-largest lottery prize win in the history of Saskatchewan. Sask Lotteries reported that it took, Mr. Poppels only eight days to claim his major winning.
The Saskatoon resident has now won the second-largest amount in a lottery game with CA$55 million to his name. The record lotto win for the province of Saskatchewan is currently held by a Neville local who won CA$60 million Lotto Max game in August 2016. The third-largest prize belongs to a Paradise Hill couple who won CA$40 million in August 2011.
Prize Claimed
After arriving at Sask Lotteriesā office to claim his hefty prize of CA$55 million, Mr. Poppels shared some more details on how he won it. He said that after discovering that someone from the region won the Lotto Max prize, he and his friend joked about winning it on the phone. He then proceeded to go to work as usual only to find out that he is in fact the winner of the jackpot.
For the October 19 draw, Mr. Poppels had three tickets and he checked them while at work via the Lotto Spot! app. The first one did not win anything, the second one got a Free Play, and according to him, the last one showed 55 followed by many zeroes. He thought that this was the maximum winning amount and not his actual win as he never expected to win such a sum.
The winner says that he would need some time to decide what to do with the hefty payout, but he has short-term ideas in mind. He shared that we the money he will be able to help his parents retire, and also help out other people who are experiencing difficulties. He also thinks about treating himself with a brand-new car.
Mr. Poppel purchased his three tickets for the Lotto Max game at the Pinnacle Gas & Food ā Faithfull, which is located at 209A ā 2750 Faithfull Ave. in Saskatoon. He won the enormous jackpot by matching all seven winning numbers in the October 19 draw of the game and his lucky numbers were 12, 26, 28, 32, 41, 43, and 50.
CA$70-Million Winner Announced
This has been the latest major lottery win in Western Canada after Christine Lauzon from British Columbia won the mind-boggling CA$70,000,000 in Lotto Max draw. The Burnaby resident recently claimed her prize at a BCLC office, and she shared that she left her number combination to fate as she selected the Quick Pick option, and later saw her ticket match all winning numbers in the September 28 draw.
Manitobaās Recent Winner
Recently, Manitoba has also witnessed a major lottery win as Jerry Knott, from Wasagamack won CA$20,000,000 also through the Lotto Max rounds. The winner revealed that he discovered his hefty payout while in Winnipeg for his daughterās wedding. Mr. Knott explains that he could not believe his eyes as the scanned ticket displayed so many zeroes.
