Most currently, Equine Guelph has announced that it will be awarding two racing scholarships to two individuals who want to enter the horse racing industry. Registration has now begun and the two winners will be selected based assessed on their resumes and love and commitment to the industry. The deadline for entries is on November 30, 2021.
The two scholarships will be provided through the Equine Guelph’s tuition awards program, which has been running since 2016. The program exists thanks to the contributions and generosity of the L’Heureux and Stocks families, who organized memorial awards for future ambassadors of the province’s horse racing sector. Candidates for the positions can now apply.
Looking for the Best Candidates
The two winners will be selected for their love of the equine industry, along with their commitment to the welfare of horses and desire to learn. The two individuals will then undergo two online courses through Equine Guelph, worth CA$549 each. Certificates are available in Equine Science, Equine Business, and Equine Welfare, and it takes six courses to acquire the certificate.
Director of Equine Guelph, Gayle Ecker stated that numerous members from the Ontario racing industry have found new methods and ways to optimize the health and performances of horses with the TheHorsePortal.ca. And according to the director, the 12-week online university-accredited courses are a great opportunity for horse racing enthusiasts and members to learn and improve.
Cameron Lago, Standardbred breeder and winner of both awards says that the Equine Guelph digital courses have proved to be quite valuable for him in the live harness industry. Mr. Lago who was raised in a horse-breeding farm shares that he first took the online Genetics course, and he later undertook the nutrition one, which helped him gain enough knowledge for the fillies.
Before applying for the Equine Guelph’s 2021 tuition awards, participants must first write a letter of 250 words. Change of Health Protocols
Previously, the horse racing leader has also opted to support Ontario’s new health and safety protocols of full vaccination proof across the province. In September, the company informed that all of its staff and participants of events in its Ontario properties must present proof of full vaccination to gain access to the venues.
