Canada finds its latest lottery millionaire, as this week the British Columbia Lottery Corporation revealed that a local lotto player has won a major Lotto 6/49 prize. According to the Crown agency, the lucky ticket holder is now CA$5.8 million richer, however, he or she is yet to contact the corporation about claiming their big winning.
According to data from the Crown, every year British Columbians win hundreds of million Canadian dollars in lottery prizes. Lotto 6/49 is one of the most popular draw-based games, and its winners are drawn twice a week, once on Wednesday and once on Saturday. Tickets for the game can be purchased at retails locations or online depending on the player’s locations.
Main Prize Split
Yesterday, the BCLC confirmed that a resident of British Columbia is the next winner of the Lotto 6/49 jackpot. According to the Crown agency, the lucky ticket holder has purchased his ticket in Prince Rupert. The Wednesday, October 6 draw for the game determined that 07, 18, 19, 38, 42, 46 are the winning numbers for this round and the bonus number was 31.
The CA$11.5 million prize from Wednesday’s draw will be split between the B.C. ticket holder and another lucky player but from Ottawa. Each of them will receive the impressive CA$5,790,419 in prize money. As of right now, neither of the winners’ identities are known and they will be revealed once they claim their winnings. They have 52 weeks to do so.
At the end of September, the Crown corporation also announced that the major CA$70,000,000 Lotto Max jackpot was acquired by someone from the province. The winner resides somewhere in Burnaby, and the September 28 draw determined 02, 05, 08, 18, 23, 31, and 35 as the winning combination for the round. This is by far the largest lottery winning in the history of B.C.
This Tuesday’s Results
After the B.C. lottery player won the CA$70,000,000 jackpot, the main prize was reset to its starter amount and started to accumulate again. During this Tuesday’s draw for the game, the jackpot stood at CA$25,000,000. Unfortunately for all players from the country, this draw did not determine a winner for the main prize.
However, players can now prepare their tickets for the next draw which will be taking place on Friday, October 8, 2021. The Lotto Max jackpot will now reach the hefty amount of CA$31 million. Tickets for the round are available in both land-based retail locations or online on the province’s official gaming platforms such as PlayNow.com for B.C., and OLG.ca for Ontario.
Richmond Mother Wins Maxmillion
In addition to the main prize, the Lotto Max draw can also deliver the opportunity for players to win a Maxmillion prize. This has been the case for Eiko Yamase from Richmond, British Columbia, who won a CA$1,000,000 prize in the June 18 draw. Now, with the winnings, the mother plans to set aside some of the money for her children’s education and travel to the Atlantic side of Canada.
