As Ontario has officially entered Stage 3 of the Roadmap to Reopen plan, Rideau Carleton Casino in Ottawa was also able to renew operations and welcome back guests. The gaming property reopened its doors on August 16, 2021, and now offers premium gambling amenities to its patrons with slots and electronic table games available at the time.
Casinos in Ontario were closed down due to the increasing number of cases of the unprecedented situation in April. Then in June, as the vaccination rates grew higher the provincial government greenlighted the reopening of most businesses including casino facilities. Now they are allowed to operate at a limited capacity and a strict set of health and safety protocols.
Welcoming Guests
According to its first step of reopening operations, Rideau Carleton Casino will provide visitors with the opportunity of playing electronic table games and slots. The official reopening was on Monday, August 16, 2021, at 9 p.m. The property’s Constant Grind, Caffe Italiano and Rendez-Vous Lounge have also renewed work for dining and beverage amenities.
Helen MacMillan, General Manager of the casino property stated that they are excited about welcoming back guests in a safe yet fun environment. In accordance with Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen plan, the Ottawa gaming property is allowed to function at 50% of its maximum capacity. The volume of allowed guests will most likely be increased as the province moves into the next stage of reopening.
The casino’s management reminds visitors that it is mandatory for all guests and staff members of the property. All visitors must also comply with physical distance protocols and they will be separated by Plexiglass barriers, which are installed between players and table game employees. As of right now, table games will not be available for playing.
The gaming property that will be transformed into Hard Rock Casino Ottawa has also implemented additional health and safety measures to protect both workers and patrons. Management stated that it has introduced a Safe and Sound protocol system, which will feature a thorough cleaning routine on high-touch surfaces and common areas. Hand sanitizers will also be provided.
Casino du Lac Leamy
Casino du Lac Leamy in Gatineau has also reopened its doors for gambling fanatics. The gaming property also operates under a limited capacity and it reopened for its patrons on June 23, 2021. Visitors are required to keep physical distance, wear protective face masks, and use hand sanitizers. Additionally, according to Quebec’s regulations, the property operates at 250 individuals at a time.
Light Show
Besides providing exceptional gaming offerings, Casino du Lac Leamy also offered an impressive light show in the sky above the property. In a collaboration with Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival, the casino organized a spectacular light show with breathtaking fireworks display. The show was launched from eight different locations and it lasted 15 minutes for locals to enjoy.
