Woodbine Entertainment has provided more information about its booking details and conditions ahead of the return of live audiences at Ontario horse racing ovals. Starting from July 1, 2021, the company’s Woodbine Mohawk Park will officially welcome back fans at its premises for the first time in more than a year.
The horse racing industry in Canada is on the recovery track as after the beginning of the unprecedented situation live races have been put on hold and restarted several times. More recently races at Ontario have been halted at the start of April and restarted at the end of May. But now is the first time in a while that fans are allowed to step in the tracks.
Reservations Now Live
Live audiences are officially permitted to make their way into the province’s horse racing tracks from July 1. However, fans must be familiar with certain rules and conditions before attending. As fans capacity will be limited Woodbine Entertainment informed that fans must first make their bookings in order to watch live the live harness races at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Each visitor including horse owners must first reserve a spot through the company’s Guest Registration page on its official website. The horse racing leader has also made a separate registration section for the horse owners wishing to attend the races at the trackside apron. Guests can also dine at the track’s Railside BBQ, and bookings for the venue can be made by OpenTable.
The company reminds of several protocols and conditions for the visiting fans. Starting off with parking as free parking spaces will be available in the main parking spot. Then, after arriving visitors can only enter through the Grandstand entrance. Additionally, wagering terminals will also be available to the track’s visitors who would want to bet on the exciting races.
Last but not least, guests will be required to wear a protective face mask after entering the property. The mask can be taken off only when eating or drinking. The horse racing leader has also informed that for the time being horse owners will be permitted to enter the Race Paddock. Admission begins an hour before the 7 p.m. EDT first-race post time.
New Series
Most recently the Woodbine Entertainment announced a collaboration deal with DAZN Canada. Both parties will join efforts into bringing a Thoroughbred racing series named DAZN Day at the Races. The series started off on June 26th at 3 p.m. ET and included live racing at Woodbine Racetrack, Belmont Park, Delaware Park, and Churchill Downs. Fans can enjoy the racing live on DAZN online platform.
Single-Event Betting
Previously, the company’s CEO Jim Lawson commented on the Senate’s passage of Bill C-218, which will introduce single-event wagering opportunities in the country. Currently, single-sport betting is only available on horse racing and offshore websites. Mr. Lawson believes that the company’s experience, technology, and position in the legislation could prove to be pivotal for the country’s upcoming gaming expansion.
