Alberta comes one step closer to its normal state of operations, as the province has just launched its economic recovery plan. Many business enterprises such as casino properties are now allowed to reopen. Century Casinos has taken advantage of the news and the company was quick to relaunch operations at its four gaming entities in the province.
In order to contain the cases of the unprecedented situation last year, casinos in Alberta were required to close down on December 13. Ever since then in-person has been suspended and just now patrons are welcomed back. However, the properties will be operating under very strict health and safety protocols in order to protect both visitors and staff members.
Welcoming Gamblers Back
On June 10, 2021, Century Casino announced that starting from the date, the company will be restarting all of its four casino properties in Alberta. Century Casino & Hotel Edmonton, Century Casino St. Albert, Century Mile Racetrack and Casino, Century Downs Racetrack and Casino, and Century Sports Calgary are now available to patrons.
Before visiting any of the four venues, gambling enthusiasts must be aware of the health and safety protocols based on Alberta Health Services guidelines. Guest of the facilities must comply with social distancing rules along with wearing a protective face mask at all times. Full details about the protocols can be found on the casinosā websites.
Century Casinos is a gambling entertainment corporation that owns and oversees several gaming properties across the United States and in Alberta, Canada. After the latest reopening in Alberta, the company cannot guarantee that there will be no further suspension of its casinos, as the conditions around the unprecedented situation are always changing. However, if a closure is imminent the company will announce it on its official website.
More Reopening
Another casino property in the province that has also reopened its doors for patrons on June 10, was the Great Northern Casino. The facility will be operating under a limited capacity and strict mandatory health measures. The casino will follow its usual working schedule and patrons will be able to play tables games and slot machines at the current time.
General Manager for the Great Northern Casino Leanne Brownless stated that there will be not live entertainment performances at the venue for now. She said that they will most like make their return once the province enters its Stage 3 reopening plan, which starts only after 70% of the eligible population has been vaccinated with at least one dose of the immunization.
Effects from Casino Closure
The suspension of gaming properties has had a negative effect on the provinceās charity organizations and First Nations. Over 1,200 organizations have been affected by the suspension, as they usually are heavily reliant on financial backing from casinos that were only recently reopened. Such is the case with the Enoch Cree Nation who has endured major revenue losses due to the lockdown restrictions and the closure of its River Cree Casino.
