A Hamilton resident’s life has been changed forever, as the 63-year-old Kathy Roksa has been fortunate enough to be drawn as the winner of the Lotto 6/49 jackpot. The personal support worker has the cool task of figuring out what to do with the amazing prize of CA$6 million, as she admits her life is much more stress-free.
Every year Canadians win hundreds of millions of dollars in draw-based games. Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max being among the top two fan favorites, as both of them are quite rewarding with the jackpot always hovering around the million mark. There are two draws per week, and in addition to the grand jackpots, both games have a guaranteed CA$1 million prize.
First Big Win
On May 20, 2021, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation revealed that it was Ms. Roksa who was the winner of the Lotto 6/49 jackpot. In the March 20 draw of the game, her ticket was drawn as the winning won, thus, bringing her the major prize of CA$6 million. Ms. Roksa shared that this her first major winning from the lottery.
After arriving to claim her check in the Crown corporation’s office the winner shared more of her winning. The mother of five and grandmother of three explained that she could not believe her eyes as she checked her ticket on the Crown’s official app and saw the numbers. She thought something was wrong and her husband and son had to assure her that the app was displaying the right number.
Ms. Roksa also shared some of the plans on how to spend the CA$6 million prize. She said that most of the money will be shared with her big family. According to her, а thorough renovation to the family’s home is also on the cards, along with a trip she plans to take once the unprecedented situation resolves and it is safer for traveling.
The now multi-millionaire stated that from now on, thanks to the major reward she will be enjoying her life stress-free and will not have to worry about money again. Ms. Roksa said that she purchased her life-changing Lotto 6/49 ticket at Fortinos on Highway 8 in Stoney Creek just in time for the March 20 draw.
More Lotto Millionaires
This week was also symbolic for the Manitoba lottery, as for the first time someone from the province who is not from Winnipeg has won more than CA$1 million in lotto prize. This lucky individual was Keith Spulnick from Fraserwood, who has just claimed his check for the staggering CA$27.5 million which he has acquired thanks to the Lotto 6/49 game from the May 12 draw.
Another that has also been circling around the internet space is of Grover Adams from Kirkland Lake. The 60-year-old man was the winner of CA$15 million jackpot but from the Lotto Max game, reported the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation a while back. His ticket was drawn as the lucky ones in the April 20 draw of the game, and now the winner is considering retiring earlier and enjoy his retirement and prize in peace.
