Patrick OLeary from Sooke has been the latest lotto player that fate has smiled upon, informed this week of the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. The excavator operator has recently won a significant prize from the draw-based game. Back in March, his ticket was drawn as the winning one for the drawās guaranteed CA$1 million prizes in the Lotto 6/49 game.
The Crown agency oversees B.C.ās and Manitoba’s lottery and gaming offerings, and so far for 2021, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than CA$35 million in the Lotto 6/49 game. Each week there are two draws for the fan-favorite game on Wednesday and Saturday nights, and each draw includes a CA$1 million guaranteed prize.
Hefty Reward
The big winner revealed more information on his major winning as he showed up to claim his check at one of the Crownās offices. Mr. OLeary said that he has purchased the ticket at 6692 Sooke Road, and checked it in a local drugstore, which he usually visits every Saturday. He explained that he could not believe his own eye as he wasnāt wearing his glasses at that time.
After realizing that he had actually won, Mr. OLeary explained how his fiancƩ also had trouble believing him that he won the CA$1 million prize as he tends to joke a lot. He said that they both celebrated the special occasion with champagne and he shared his plans to travel to Ireland in order to visit family and friends once traveling is safer to do.
More B.C. Winners
The Crown agency has also informed of a few more significant wins in the province. The corporation advises all lottery players from Burnaby to check or even double-check their tickets as someone from the city has won CA$25,000 from the Lotto 6/49 game. So, be sure to check all of your recently purchased tickets in the region.
Additionally, the Crown announced that a Victoria-purchased ticket has also won a hefty prize in the size of CA$347,557 from the same draw. The name of the winner is still unknown. Unfortunately, the grand prize of CA$23 million in the Lotto 6/49 draw-based game remains unclaimed. But do not get discouraged as the next draw is coming close and the jackpot will be even bigger.
Ontario Jackpot Piles Up
Shifting our focus on other Canadian jurisdictions, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has revealed that last weekās Lotto 6/49 jackpot has not been won by anyone. The grand prize estimated around CA$23,000,000 at the time of the announcement, and for the May 12 draw, the jackpot has increased to over CA$27 million, but we are yet to find out if it has been claimed by someone.
Kirkland Lake Winner
Prior, to that, the Crown corporation responsible for Ontarioās lottery offerings revealed that Kirkland Lake resident Grover Adams has joined the club of Canadian lotto multi-millionaires. The 60-year-old man is one step closer to an earlier retirement as he has won the CA$15 million jackpot from the Lotto Max game. His ticket was drawn as the winning one in the April 20 draw.
