New York State has officially greenlighted in-person casino gaming across some of the commercial casino locations. Those of them ready for their reopening had the right to do so this week and long queues of individuals ready to gamble were lining in front of them this Wednesday. Casinos now welcome players at 25-percent capacity.
In a recent statement, Gov. Andrew Cuomo gave his green light to the commercial casinos reopening process that launched on September 9. All eyes were set on that date, as those casinos have been closed over the past nearly six months and the lack of gaming revenue has taken its toll on the state budget. The decision affected both commercial casinos and racinos.
Riveting Gaming Commences
Mid-March, casino locations across the state announced their temporary closure due to the unprecedented situation and the ultimate goal of player protection. Ever since then, these venues have remained closed and people have been eager to gamble in-person and experience the thrill once again. Resorts World New York City was among the venues that had worked extensively on their safety protocols.
Implementing them and aiming to protect all individuals wanting to give their luck a try was of utmost importance for the gaming hall which is why it was ready just in time for the official greenlighting. The gaming hotspot in Queens saw a line almost an hour and a half before the official reopening was set to take place this Wednesday. People were waiting for their chance to see everything up for grabs inside.
Residents were ready to gamble and win big with the help of the slot machines ready to change their lives. In order to promote physical distancing, some of those are switched off, creating distance between the working ones. Some of the people waiting in line for the official reopening reported that they have been patrons ever since Day 1 of the gaming location.
People Eager to Gamble
This feeling of belonging somewhere is what keeps people coming back for more. Individuals entering have to have their temperature scanned. Chief Marketing Officer Darlene Monzo stated that some 1,000 staff members have been laid off over the past nearly six months. These individuals want to get back to their workplace and do what they love – help people win more.
Other casinos to the likes of Rivers Casino, Saratoga Casino Hotel, and del Lago Resort and Casino relaunched operation this Wednesday. All locations are allowed to welcome up to 25-percent of their overall capacity. This limits their gaming revenue, but it is considered a step in the right direction, as it will cover only the upcoming weeks of operation.
Tioga Downs and Vernon Downs are also among the locations that are now operating and welcoming patrons. Their owner was worried that their ongoing closure will end up killing the racetracks, as racing purses were about to run dry. All safety measures needed have been implemented ahead of the reopenings.
