It has been recently confirmed that the Mohawk Million race taking place at Woodbine Mohawk Park has had nine of its ten slots filled just in time for the deadline for participation. In the meantime, Woodbine Racetrack is bracing for the Queen’s Plate this summer and a favorite has been highlighted – Malibu Mambo.
Horse racing and wagering on it are among the main highlights of the warmer months in Ontario and this is evident by the high popularity both racetracks have. The Thoroughbred and the Standardbred one continue attracting individuals making their way there driven by the desire to spend quality time with their friends and family while also enjoying live horse racing.
Standardbred Racing
The added factor of possibly winning big is also an attractive feature of the live events both for the viewers and for the horse owners racing in them. Mohawk Million is considered being one of the special events in this 2020 live schedule at Woodbine Mohawk Park, as it is about to bring CA$1,000,000 with itself. This explains why the first payment for reserving a slot amounts to CA$55,000.
Now it has been confirmed that all nine slots open for registration have been reserved and the horse owners willing to become part of this race have paid the mandatory payment. February 18 saw the deadline for registration and a special prompt by Woodbine Entertainment seeking horses ready to race at the end of September 2020. The first installment for this premium race amounts to US$55,000 and it was supposed to be completed by February 18.
The second mandatory payment amounts to another US$55,000 that must be paid ahead of June 1. The tenth slot of the Mohawk Million race is yet to be revealed. The winner of the William Wellwood Memoriam taking place on September 12 is going to deserve the tenth slot at the Mohawk Million race transforming September 26.
Thoroughbred Racing
Jim Lawson, Chief Executive Officer of Woodbine Entertainment, stated that the first edition of the Mohawk Million live race is beginning to take shape. Last year saw a special edition of the event, during which One Bad Boy managed to demolish all rivals on its way to the first place and the cash prize reaching CA$1 million.
