The year 2019 was quite successful for Canadian players participating in international poker festivals and domestic ones. Many of them solidified their positions on the official rank lists by participating in various poker tournaments around the globe. Sam Greenwood is known for his proficient runner-up position on Canada’s All-Time Money list with his total live earnings amounting to some $20,368,169.
His proficiency in the poker world reserved him a leading position, a mission he has had ever since 2008 and his first live poker tournament. Mr. Greenwood is known for his international poker tournaments taking him places. His first poker tournament was a domestic one, at the 2008 North American Poker Championship in Niagara Falls, Ontario. He entered the CA$10,000 + CA$300 No-Limit Hold’em tournament as his first experience on the live poker scene.
International Poker Success
Mr. Greenwood managed to make it all the way to the 8th position on the official leader board which ended up bringing him a cash pile of CA$87,490 (US$77,447). The year 2019 ended up being among the diverse ones for the poker pro, as he participated in live events in Spain, the UK, the US, Montenegro, Monte Carlo, Jeju, and Paradise Island.

January gave a strong start to this year with his participation in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure festival. Mr. Greenwood was the victorious player at the end of $100,000 No-Limit Hold’em PCA Super High Roller. Outplaying all rivals on the way to the top position resulted in a cash payout of $1,775,460.
This cash prize ranks second-best in his live poker career, the first one bagged last spring in Monte Carlo. Back then, the Canadian entered the €100,000 No-Limit Hold’em – EPT Super High Roller event only to climb all the way to the first position and bag some €1,520,000 (US$1,853,387) for his great performance.
Greenwood Strikes Again
Fast forward to this year, another grand prize marked his trip to Jeju as a special one. The Canadian pro entered the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series on the gaming hotspot. He made it all the way to the runner-up position in HK$500,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed Day 1. This reserved him a cash payout of HK$8,000,000 (US$1,091,251), one of the larger ones of 2019.
Another international poker festival, this time in Budva was equally as generous to him. In May, Mr. Greenwood participated in the HK$750,000 Short Deck No-Limit Hold’em Ante Only event of the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series. Finishing in the second-best position on the official rank list guaranteed him a cash payout of HK$8,600,000 (US$1,095,625).
One of the most recent payouts bagged by the Canadian poker pro took place in London. He played at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series, entering the £100,000 No-Limit Hold’em – Triton London Main Event and reached all the way to the 8th position on the official leader board of this tournament. At the end of the culminating event, Mr. Greenwood became eligible for a cash payout of £902,000 (US$1,097,724).
