PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker platform, just launched the new season of its richest tournament series, the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). Starting May 6, the championship celebrates its 10th anniversary and offers poker enthusiasts a share of the massive $110 million guaranteed prize pools.
The 2018 SCOOP is running on the PokerStars platform through May 21 and it has 61 events available with low, medium and high buy-ins, which means there are a total of 183 tournaments where players, poker pros and amateurs alike, can compete for huge prizes. There are $65 in guaranteed prize money for SCOOP events alone, as well as daily tournaments with a minimum guarantee of $1 million. PokerStars marks the 10th anniversary of the online championship with the biggest guarantees ever and as these tournaments rarely fail to meet the promised amount, players can expect even more massive prize pools.
Last year, SCOOP had a guarantee of $55 million but it pushed it to $93 million which was awarded in a total of 57 events. This year, poker fans can enter the various tournaments for a fee between $2,20 to $25,000 and choose from No-limit Hold’em or Pot-limit Omaha games. So, like always, there is something for everyone but one of the most exciting events will be the NLH High Roller on May 9 which comes with a $25,000 buy-in and an 8-Max format. It also offers a guaranteed prize pool of $2.5 million.
Certainly, the highlights of the series will be the three Main Events, each in the low, medium and high tier. They will be held on May 20 and include the $109 Buy-in Main Event with GTD 1.5 Million, the $1,050 Buy-in Main Event with GTD $4 million and the $10,300 Buy-in Main Event with GTD $5 million. Overall, entrants will have the chance to win a share of the GTD $10 million only during the Main Events.
Additional Prizes and Bonuses
Along with the record-setting number of events and guarantees, this year’s SCOOP will also award five $30,000 Platinum Passes for the 2019 Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) in January 2019. The Platinum Passes will be received by the winners of the High, Medium and Low Main Events. Entry to the prestigious championship in the Bahamas next year will be also given to the one who manages to finish first in the overall leaderboard, as well as to the winner of the All-In Shootout Challenge.
The high ranking in the leaderboard will be even more rewarding as the top players will receive additional bonuses between $100 and $10,000, depending on the tier they are playing in. This year, PokerStars SCOOP series also offers a $50,000 “10 Years of SCOOP” Freeroll which is available to anyone who has ever taken part in a SCOOP event. We should note that this is the 9th SCOOP in 10 years, so there are many poker enthusiasts who have played in the online tournaments over the years.
