One of the most anticipated poker tournaments in Las Vegas, Wynn Classic, returns this summer with an increased guaranteed prize pool of $1.5 million for its Championship Event only. The schedule for the 2018 Wynn Summer Classic was released over the weekend, revealing a busy programme of 30 events that will be held from June 1 through July 16 at the luxurious Wynn Poker Room.
The summer edition of the popular poker series comes with a combined guarantee of nearly $5 million, making it one of the richest tournaments in 2018. Similar to previous years, it will run alongside the 2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP, May 29 – July 17) but this summer, it offers both poker pros and casual players more attractive cash prizes. While the guaranteed prize pool for each event is larger than in the previous editions, the format remains the same – most of the games will be No Limit Hold’em, with one exception, namely the $500+$50 Pot Limit Omaha on June 13. This event and the three Super Satellites will not use Big Blind Ante.
The 2018 Wynn Summer Classic starts June 1 with the No Limit Hold’em $5K Survivor which has a $50,000 in guarantee and is accessed after paying the $550 buy-in. The events in the tournament have quite high entry fees starting at $400 ($360+$40) and reaching $1,100, while satellites are in the $200 – $300 range. This may sound too pricey for some poker enthusiasts, but the higher buy-in also means higher cash prizes and prize pools that considerably exceed the initial guarantees.
The Main Event kicks off July 9 with a $1,600 buy-in and 45-minute-long levels during the first day. Day 2 of the Wynn Summer Classic Championship continues with 60-minute-long levels and on the final day, the levels will last 75 minutes. The guaranteed prize pool is $1,500,000. The tournament at Wynn Las Vegas and its sister resort, Encore Las Vegas, also boasts two $1,100 buy-in events with 40-minute levels and guaranteed prize pools of $1 million each.
